Am I the only person who doesn't particularly like The Walking Dead?

Let me first say that I am a fan of zombie genre (especially the first four Romero films), and it's not that I hate TWD, I just can't get interested in the show beyond any one episode.
I can turn it on and maybe watch an entire episode, but I am not interested in the continuing story and I am not compelled to watch an entire season's worth of episodes.
This is not to disparage the fans of the show. If you like it, it's fine. I was just interested if anyone else had similar feelings about the show and if they could articulate why they don't find it interesting.

No.
Just not a great show IMO. Lost interest in the second season. Heard it got better. If I had more time to waste I would have kept up with it.

You're never the only one

I'm a big zombie, and horror in general, fan, but I just never got in to this show. Watched a few episodes here and there, but that's it.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. This seems like a show I should really enjoy. Every one of my buddies loves the show, yet I feel weird because I can't contribute to their conversations.

Yes, you and the few that commented are the only ones, TWD has gotten much better. I was underwhelmed at first but I am glad I stuck with it.

I don't like it. Bad acting.

It lost me when they camped in Prison.

Of course you're not the only one. Every show ever broadcast has people that don't particularly like it. Bell Curve and all that stuff.
I personally enjoy it and look forward to it each week. But it would be silly to say that it is universally liked.

I like it, it's probably around 6 or 7 for the shows I watch. It has gotten much better this year (IMO not even comparable to last season), the new showrunner seems to have a good grip on how to handle the story. Now that they are no longer at the prison the action has really ramped up.

Well stated. Not in my top 10 favorite shows but I enjoy it pretty much as a guilty pleasure. I mean it's a world filled with zombies for crying out loud.

I am completely done with zombies. I wish our fascination with them would start to wane. That's the main reason I've never checked out the show.

I really liked seasons 1 and 2 but I don't even look forward to watching it now, and the fact that I know they'll never get into the cause of the outbreak makes it worse for me.
I liked characters that everyone else hated, too(Lori, Shane). Not them personally, but what they brought to the show. It just seemed more complete then. Now it's a survival show with not a lot in between, and it's too predictable.

I lost interest after a few seasons.

If you don't like it because they are never going to show the outbreak or that it is different than other Zombie fiction then you were never going to like it in the first place. Those are the two sticking plots of Kirkman's universe. That 99 percent of all Zombie fiction shows the outbreak. And the show/GN focus on the survivors the name "The Walking Dead" comes from them not the Walkers.

If they don't start introducing a resolution of the main plot conflict, which in my opinion is about identifying the root cause and curing people so they just die a regular death, then I'm going to give up. They just keep retelling the same storylines over and over... Good people vs bad, struggle to find food and water and shelter, struggle with sickness/medical care, strangers becoming family. There needs to be a higher purpose beyond just survival or it's gonna lose me.

Then you probably want to quit now.
