Why does everyone bitch so much about the price. If it sucks that bad for you, then don't buy the beer. It's not that hard.
Yet I see every single one of yall buying it up. This conversation has been had with all of Parish's bombers and the product is still flying off the shelves. Why change the pricepoint when the demand is there? I will pay $12 or more to Parish all day everyday. They are local and I love what they do and everyone who works there.
But back to everything else. It's my choice and my opinion.

I'd also buy a $12 750 of GITM over a $7 11.2 oz bottle of Mikkeller IPA
All day everyday.

I can't compare a sour vs dipa. I can appreciate the fact that there are costs associated with spontaneous fermentation (Waste, infections, age, fruit), which is something you can't work around. Show me a top tier lambic or gueuze (or American wild ale) as Cantillon or 3F at a much lower price.
No doubt. And I certainly can't compare the processes that go into the 2 styles, since they are so different. But at the end of the day, I get more enjoyment from a DIPA than a sour, so my willingness to pay for the DIPA is going to be greater than my willingness to pay for the sour.

Heady: $12 for 64 oz
I have my $12 in hand. Please point me to where I can buy my 4-pack of Heady.
I do agree the price point is high though.

Only reason I mention it is because it prevented me from buying more than the two bottles I bought. Same with GR and Farmhouse. I like them and I want to support them but I only end up with at most 2 bottles of the product whereas I've been known to buy some St. Arnold stuff or Stone stuff by the case.

Same here..I understand why it is what it is, but when I "reserved" my bottles it seemed odd to the store that I only asked for two when they were limiting at four.

If you want, you can look at this as a compliment for Parish. When people are asked to compare GitM to the big guys this is the largest outlier. The profiles of the beer itself are very comparable, people just notice the price point is higher than other top tier DIPAs we can get ahold to.
I don't think the price is holding back many people fwiw.

Eh. This isn't a hard and fast rule for all consumers. I personally only bought 3 bottles of Grand Reserve because of the high price. Same with Farmhouse, same will be likely with GiTM. Great beer, but once I get to try a couple three bottles the price tag will keep me from going back for more. If it were cheaper and packaged to be more conducive to everyday drinking I might change my mind.

I think the high price is strictly do to supply and demand.in a competitive market I think the beer would probably be priced at 8-9 bucks a bottle and Parish still make money. What needs to happen is that Great Raft and Tin Roof and Abita need to get their asses In gear and make a worthy competitor. when this happens, the price will come down.
I think this because I see in other places where the competition for your business is high, the price of beers is not nearly so high. Even the small breweries can come in with the competitive price.

I agree with all this.
At the same time, i try to keep price point out of beer conversations, because in the long run its all about the taste and your enjoyment. Unless its something like mikkeller where the cost to enjoyment ratio is too high.

Agreed. In addition to more competition from La. breweries, I think if Parish would increase their capacity we could see a price drop.

Yeah I don't usually jump at the opportunity to discuss beer prices either. Some people on Instagram will hint about how much they spent on their beer hauls that is a clear douchetastic subtle brag.

Bingo! But if it was so easy to make such a great hoppy beer, wouldn't the rest of the local breweries be making them too? Sure you can get a 4-pack of Meh-cahopzilla for the price of a GITM bomber, but the beers don't compare at all. If more of our local breweries made a really kick arse DIPA, the prices would be more moderate.

agree. I'm not liking the ruinten comparison. ruinten was a lot more bitter. GitM is smooth and full of hop flavor.
See, I thought the runinten comparison was pretty good... I actually think somewhere in between regular ruination, and the ten. The one I drank yesterday was super bitter with little malt balance to it, but I still enjoyed it greatly.
I think the best thing to take from all this is we finally have a LA beer that we can compare to some pretty highly thought of beers.

Good news and bad news: First the bad. We are officially sold out of bottles of Ghost in the Machine in our taproom. But the good news is that we have decided to do growler fills!!! Also lots of retailers around Louisiana still have bottles, many are just getting their cases today or tomorrow.

Naw... The fact it's sold out everywhere will keep you from going back for more.

It's not sold out everywhere by any means. It hasn't even hit the shelves in lafayette yet.
