So you're issue is more to do with the sanctity of the WORD "marriage" than with the actual sanctity of marriage?
You're good with two guys having a legally recognized loving relationship that has all the benefits as a heterosexual couple, so long as they don't use the WORD "marriage?"
As you said earlier...makes zero sense to me.

I am just saying that words mean things and we shouldn't change definitions of words just because somebody feels like doing so

Everyone has this to some degree so it isn't exclusive to just you.
You're not going to get sympathy from me for dealing with shite that every person in America deals with on some level.

I still don't understand how the government can recognize a religious ceremony if there is a separation of church and state.

I am just letting you know how the definition of the word came about.
The word marriage was originally used to show obligations between a woman and her husband and signify her as his property. Glad tosee the definition has never changed. Solid argument champ.

There is not a separation of church and state ..

The "ceremony" has nothing to do with it.

Marriage has existed throughout history as a way to regulate the obligations and responsibilities of procreation. So when you allow the union of two gays to be called a marriage, you are changing the definition so much that it is destroying the need for the institution of marriage.

Really? And which church are we using to represent the views of America?

Yes, but it has also been used as a way to obtain influential in-laws and strengthen group ties. Stephanie Coontz has written extensively about marriage, particularly in Marriage, A History: From Obedience to Intimacy, or How Love Conquered Marriage. Procreation is only part of what marriage has been about.
Besides, being gay or lesbian is not the same thing as being sterile.

There is a seperation of church a state, the state can't promote one religion over another. Marriage is a religious term, why is the government promoting it?

The only winner in the gay marriage fight will be divorce lawyers.

You're clearly referring to your religious interpretation of the word and are grasping at straws to come up with a secular argument to support your conclusion.
As a Christian, I do believe that marriage is between a man and a woman. From a secular perspective, I've yet to find a legit study that shows that children are not best served by a traditional, healthy marriage. Yes, there are plenty of screwed up marriages between a man and a woman where children suffer. Generally speaking, a traditional marriage where both parents are committed to the family is going to produce better outcomes for the children.

To some degree, but not nearly like this. Every poll and study on this shows the same thing.

The "ceremony" may not have anything to do with it but the pact does

My comment was in reference to the comment that this will force religions to carry out the ceremony
