If you're trying to make it look like SG is being treated unfairly, you shouldn't use examples where SG won on an issue.

I thought that the vote was deferred due to Boe's absence. I didn't realize it had been shut down completely. If so metro council finally got one right.

I still don't have much faith in the council though, you have (in my opinion) 6 members who will automatically vote no on anything that has the phrase St. George or unincorporated anywhere in it.

Opposition to becoming more and more like New Orleans is certainly a motivation for the St. George movement.

Yeah, that was a stupid move (that both Delgado and Holden opposed-BTW). That said, I generally like Tara Wicker. She usually has more sense.

But please don't delude yourself. Should it ever get created, the St. George city council will have it's share of idiots as well. Every elected body does.

Only it will be less noticeable since right now the Advocate covers the Metro council relatively well. Not saying you won't be able to find out what is going on, just that it won't be as readily accessible.

Livingston and New Orleans are not the issue here, the future of Baton Rouge and potentially St. George is. I think the previous posters point is that if you have half of the metro council that has made up their minds on any given topic before even discussing it, how is anything supposed to get done?

As far as name calling, I've seen it on both sides so far. What stands out to me is that while I've seen a few pro SG people make some stupid comments, the name calling from ELECTED OFFICIALS on the other side is more appalling to me. Not to mention the level of insults and generalizations coming from those against incorporating.

As far as leadership of the incorporation, I'm not a big Jenkins fan and I admit I don't know enough about Rainey or White to make an informed opinion. But I can say that I am firmly against anything that TogetherBR supports from what I've seen of them. I have heard from multiple people that the majority of the organizers and speakers at the recent event are from that group, any truth to that?

In the interest of full disclosure I currently have a home for sale in the St. George area. I am still undecided on whether or not I support the breakaway but heavily leaning for based on everything that's happened the past few months. I think the best thing to happen would be for the issue to come to vote and for us to hear a civilized debate from both sides. However Better Together had better rein in some of their supporters, I fear this is dividing the city and causing irreparable damage, regardless of how it turns out.
