Bounty hunters have made significant progress in getting rid of one of the biggest culprits blamed for Louisiana's rapidly eroding coastline: the nutria. During the 2012-13 hunting season, hunters used rifles, shotguns and traps to kill 388,160 of the four-legged, orange-toothed critters that love to eat wetland grasses down to the roots, according to a report delivered to a federal-state coastal restoration task force on Thursday.

Damn some serious nutria massacre happening in T-bone parish

They need some for hogs now. Hogs are doing more damage in the marsh than nutria.

I was gonna go on a rampage when they started that program, but I remember you needed a special trapping license or something. If they didn't have that, I'd happily kill every one I saw

That license is like $25....

I usually kill about 10-15 on my farm every duck season.
Those bastards have ruined the levee, multiple spots have sunk in and we cant even ride ATVs down it anymore, much less a tractor to bushhog it.
I get most of them when the ditch freezes and they are sliding around on the ice...too easy.

The most fun nutria hunting is on an airboat in the marsh.
2 people up front: 1 with a shotgun, one with a .22

You're welcome.
And I don't even collect the tails. I just do it for the joy of killing nutria.

They are good target practice with a pistol. From what i've heard at least . I may or may not have shot a few.

Wow. That's quite a population decrease.
Someone must have told the cajuns it's illegal to kill nutria.
