The Depressing Reality of Failure and Tanking

Rybot: probably going to sit for the year now
Jrue: out for a long time with a stress fracture (and anybody who has followed bradley beal needs to realize he needs to sit for a long time, regardless of tanking or not)
Gordon: shocking news today that he's on the block
i don't even give a shite about the pick we still may very well lose. there was optimism and hope this year. a bunch of young studs giving many options who all seemed to get along? the rebuilding seemed almost done
now instead of thinking of trading bordon for deng, we're considering trading him for "granger" (an expiring)
luckily now the fanbase will see both the value of jrue and how bad the frick arse tyreke can be playing ball-dominant point guard (as weird as it is to think of both of those things together)

not weird at all.

In years past, at least there was a light at the end of the season (high draft pick). Now we will tank and give our #7 pick to the god damn 76ers.
My pels offseason will now consist of hoping they follow through with the pool in the Party Perch. Otherwise, all hope is lost.

I just want to sit in the fetal position and cry

This makes the season useless unless we're able to trade Gordon for some kind of value.

76er fans are so happy right now

i don't care about the pick. it probably has less than a 25% chance of even being a solid NBA player

Not if Jrue's out and we trade Gordon for garbage. I didn't think we could pull off a proper tank job with Holiday/Gordon/Tyreke, but we're a trade and a Tyreke "sprained ankle" away from being as bad as any team in the east.

The worst part is that we are stuck with a crappier version of Byron Scott who will insist on healthy doses of minutes for Roberts/Morrow/Steimsma instead of letting Rivers/Jackson/Withey get very valuable playing time.

I'm gonna run laps around the roof of One Shell Square

It's funny/depressing that this was posted to give the board hope.
"Come on guys! We can be as bad as anyone in the league!"

There's only about 6 games between us and the 2nd to worst record in the league. We can definitely pull off a proper tank job now.
I know its a long shot, but am I correct that if we can somehow land the 2nd worst overall record in the league, we are guaranteed to keep our draft pick?

we have to try really hard to be THAT bad, because other teams are perfecting it

yes. top 3 are lottery, so the last "guaranteed" top 5 pick is #2
(x, y, z, 1, 2)

Good grief, I wish that there was less truth in the OP.
Anderson's impact is huge, but I also feel that it is bigger than it should be. And now Jrue. Ugh. Just a short time ago, the Pels were starting to gel, the record was a respectable .500 or so and you could see things coming together.

If you're gonna tank, you have to get rid of CMW now. Trying to tank would be a horrible idea anyway, there are quite a few teams out there who could easily out-tank the Pellies. The backups have been ok to date, I don't think many people would have expected the team's record to be much different than it is now had the team been fully healthy all season... maybe 2 or 3 games better.

Most people here predicted a season at or close to .500. Isn't that where 2 or 3 more wins would have the team?
