Clear solutions or easy plays aren't available against Seattle. Sean Payton is a smart coach and understands that. Risks aren't a problem, so long as they are calculated risks. Payton may have another plan that could expose the best defense in the NFL. From the outside looking in, it appears that establishing the run with Mark Ingram and focusing on Jimmy Graham is their best plan for success.
No matter what plan Payton comes up with, he will need near-perfect execution to overcome this daunting task.

I know this isn't groundbreaking, but having manageable 3rd downs will help TREMENDOUSLY which goes hand in hand with at least a semi-successful run game.

The Saints plan will need to be balanced on both sides of the ball. We will need long possessions on offense. A sound running game can do that. Arizona won the game because the had 139 yards rushing and like 170 yards passing. Time of possession however was AZ 37 minutes, Seattle 22 minutes. We must keep their offense off the field as much as possible. We also must put a spy on Russell Wilson. His ability to stretch plays is insane and he is looking to pass so the DBS must stay with their man or cover their zone. The red zone will be the make or break zone. We must come away with points in the red zone, as hard as it may seem, we will have to run the ball consistently in the red zone. Their DBS are good, but they exceptional in tight spaces. Turnovers can easily happen. If our defense can hold them to under 20 we will have a good chance. If we cannot maintain drives even if we don't get any points, game over. Our defense will need recovery time. One too many three and outs, we're done. Not to mention they are calling for 100% rain. Really? 100%.

I trust that SP and RR are going to be prepared and have our team prepared. Outside of that, I hope for two things:

1) That we handle any adversity and stay locked into the game, even if we happen to fall behind a little.

2) Play as physical as possible, even if it means a penalty here and there. We got bullied last game against them.....it's my hope that regardless of the outcome, the Seahawks come out of that game knowing they just played a tackle football game.

Leave No Doubt!!!

If the article says that the Saints can only beat Seattle the same way they beat Philly (with a steady run game and stout defense), then the article has the right game plan for a Saints win.

I can sum up what the saints need to do on offense in one word:

that was a good write up.

thanks for putting that up, haven't read a lot of their stuff as much this season. No particular reason, guess it slipped my mind.

I'd like to point out a huge stat going into this game Saturday.

lets take a look at Seattle's 3rd down conversions the last 3 games as an offense.

@ N.Y. Giants 3-for-13.
vs. Arizona 2-for-13.
vs. St. Louis 4-for-13.

that comes to a total of 9 conversions in their last 39 attempts on 3rd down.

Now... for our boys in black and gold. Here is what Rob Ryan's defense has down to their last 3 opponents on 3rd down the last 3 games.

Carolina was 0-for-9 vs. the Saints.
Tampa Bay was 3-for-13 vs. the Saints.
Philadelphia was 3-of-12 vs. the Saints.

Total for our defense comes to only 6 conversions in 34 attempts for the opponents in the last 3 games.

The D was able to harness the speed and tempo of the Eagles offense for the most part last week.

Now, lets see if they can match the intensity of a more physical opponent in the Seahawks.

I think they can.
