If you think about it, in a way the US does not exist today as it did say 30 years ago. You can now and for just about free communicate and do instant business transactions with anyone anywhere across the globe. National borders are becoming meaningless as far as everyday life is concerned, and this will only progress to the point to where I'm able to meet you halfway across the world in a matter of an hour or two.
