Apparently the first outright conference title in eons, and first ever BCS birth, isn't enough for a matchup vs. UCF.

After failing to sell all 17,500 tickets allotted to the university, Baylor will reportedly return ‘more than 5,000' unsold tickets to the Fiesta Bowl committee. The tickets are being sent back after the school didn’t meet its Friday deadline.

There is a lot of drinking, fighting, gambling and debauchery that goes on during that week. Baylor folk gotta stay straight.

Beating UT to win the Big 12 is way more important than this. Good for Baylor fans for not buying into this. Who wants to pay $150 and travel costs to see their team in an exhibition game with literally nothing at stake in Phoenix when you just had your school's biggest win in decades?

Not that surprising, even big schools have trouble selling out unless it's a huge BCS game. Can't expect too many students to make these trips, it's almost a grand to just fly to Phoenix this time of year.

Conference Rival TCU not only bought all 17,500 tickets in 2009 but asked for an additional 10,000 more in 2009.

And they were playing a team they had already beaten the year before as well.

Something to keep in mind when discussing conference realignment.

I don't mean this as a jab, but I'm sure the Baylor guys will take it that way, but they don't fill up their own stadium. What makes you think they are gonna travel and fill up a larger one.

What's the worst performance by a BCS team with regards to ticket sales?

UCONN in the Fiesta Bowl about 3-4 years ago comes to mind, though Wake Forest in the Orange Bowl probably isn't much better.

At least Wake's excuse is that they have one of the smallest enrollments and alumni bases in FBS.

All bowl tie-ins should be scrapped.
South Carolina would have sold it out.
