The NCAA should rank the bowls 1-35(whatever the number is)

That would make the Birmingham Bowl something like #40.

LSU has sold right at 6,000 as of today. Iowa has sold just over 10,000. Expect Iowa fans to outnumber LSU fans by 2/1. Iowa fans outnumbered us at the 2004 CapOne as well although not 2/1.

I'm very pleased to see Tiger fans send a message to the Outhouse Bowl to shove it. I guess they thought we had forgotten being screwed.

I was at the 2004 Cap One Bowl. We waited too long to change QBs or we would've blown them out. Anybody still have the photo of multiple Iowa players holding on the final play?

6,000 us versus 10,000 them is not good for the Hawkeyes. Iowa fans are as quiet as church mice. Takes ten of them to make one of us when it comes to making noise. This means we will blow them away noise wise!

Not necessarily traveling far - a much-overlooked fact is that once you plunge into southward into Florida along either of the coasts, you depart the South and enter a twilight zone (majority) population of displaced Big Ten fans. These are the people and children of people who have set down some roots in Florida, at least for part of every year. But they originated in some midwestern state or another, and have congenital ties to any team that is Big Ten in texture. As well as a mild antipathy toward anything that reeks of the South or the SEC. Being used to the Florida of the panhandle, something that surprised me when we moved down here in 2006, there are as many or more Ohio State or Michigan fans living in Bradenton as there are Florida or Florida State fans.

First off, we weren't outnumbered by Penn State fans in 2009.

Second, what I just quoted nailed it. I live down here and see way more Michigan/Ohio State/Michigan State/Penn St. fans than any SEC school other than Florida. The state of Florida is full of a bunch of damn yankees. There's times I feel like I live on the Jersey Shore its so bad.

the weather will be close to freezing to death(ftd) in iowa.

huge agricultural business base in iowa and all ag business is in hibernation in ftd weather.

bowl is being held in non-ftd weather.

not much to spend your money on in iowa so lots of savings in the bank w/ itch to spend.

iowa travels very well.

p.s. Iowans are whiter than WHITE.

I'm old family Louisiana. dad was English, but mom was half old spain and half old france. lots of Mediterranean olive skin in Louisiana.

I've been to Sweden and holy shite, everyone is white and blonde!

I didn't mean any insult, but the Swedish, Norwegian, Baltic, Germanic heritage of iowa has very little dark skin. I was once on a flight w/ 90% iowa fans heading to the fiesta bowl, and I was the darkest on the plane!

also, now Louisiana has almost 50% Afro-American population, with a growing Mexican influence.

we are very proud of our heritage as you are of yours. and, I'm proud of your heritage!

what a sorry assed fan base. If it isn't in New Orleans or Dallas you just can't be bothered. Wow.

I live in Minnesota, right in the heart of big 10 country, and I travel down to Baton Rouge every year to watch and cheer for my beloved LSU Tigers. Big ten fans have never experience anything remotely close to SEC football. The standards are just higher down here. I love the people in Louisiana and this football team. Chickenhawk fans wouldn't get it.

Tiger Stadium is getting expanded to hold 100,000 fans. Iowa's Kinnick Stadium holds 70,585. Don't give us lectures on being sorry assed fans!

We're spoiled. Pure and simple.

Perhaps LSU needs a new losing streak. Short term impact would suck, but ultimately it would re-energize the fan base. Make them hungry again. Ticket prices would go down and good seats would be available.

Meh. I forgot I said I didn't care anymore. Where's my remote....

Iowa fans love to tailgate. They get there early and take up all the parking places. They drink alot more then they eat.

I know most fans are probably flying in so tailgatting will be curtailed. However, Iowans are fun polite drunks. Bars will be jammed.

This is more of a good fan match then a football match.

Should be a fun time for anyone who goes to the game.

For me its not about where the bowl is, its the fact that its practically meaningless.

LSU has already played 4 ranked teams. They have played the #2 and #3 ranked teams in the country, and beaten the #2. They have played and beaten the former Heisman trophy winner. And LSU does this every year. Why should I be excited about playing an unranked team from a crappy conference.

It would be different if beating Iowa meant that LSU would move on in a playoff, but currently the game is basically an exhibition match. I dont have much cash, and I would rather spend it on something else.

I live in Texas and keep Hawkeye season tickets, making it back to 4-5 games per year.

Don't worry, we "get it."

Sounds like trying to build in excuses.

The attitude of some fans are weird. Like they are entitled to things and if they don't get what they want they stomp their feet on the ground and cry.

Can't imagine where that entitlement attitude comes from....hmmmm......yep. it is the new America.

WELCOME

Iowa is a state with 1,700,000 fewer people and has to split the smaller state with another BCS program. You guys are the only big show in Louisiana.

Iowa St. gets around 55,000 to their games, so if we had only one BCS program in the state, you can bet we would fill a 100,000+ seat stadium easily.

70,000 + 55,000 = 125,000

Brewhawk is correct. Not to mention we have a good 1AA program that draws really well.

Population wise, I'm not sure there is a better fan base for attendance and support. It is actually quite crazy. Particularly when teams are good.
