It's not the bowl, it's the opponent.

If LSU were playing Michigan, this "problem" would not exist.

Iowa brings zero appeal to LSU fans. Bowls are supposed to bring "excitement" ad at best Iowa is the 5th best/"sexiest" game for LSU fans.

LSU is favored, but Iowa is a good team and could certainly beat LSU.
This is very true, especially if LSU sleepwalks for the first 3 quarters. If we can't play for rankings, I hope we play for LSU pride. That's what the old LSU teams used to do. And it was damn effective.

uhh, not necessarily. The Iowa team will be pumped no doubt- they were not expected to do much and didn't really do much so a bowl is a great thing. The LSU team is down because they wanted and were expected to compete for the NC. Don't kid yourself.

If you were in Iowa in January you would jump at any excuse to leave. Hell if I was stuck in Iowa at anytime I would Bail.

Lsu fans will care after Iowa pounds the crap out of your team on Espn.Im sure your fans will say they lost because they didnt want to be here.

and that will be very valid. Not something to be proud of by any means but if Iowa beats the crap out of LSU there is NO ONE anywhere that will say it was because Iowa was just that much better than we are, except for a few delusional Iowa fans like yourself who apparently are trying to say just that, .

I'm not so sure. Our fans would find some reason not to go. The truth is that we just don't travel as well as we used to.

yea i bet we are out numbered. Our fans are shite heads. I can understand the im not going to the chicken bowl stuff because we had been so many times, but we have sold half of our tickets to a game we have never played in. Then on years we fail to make the playoffs our fans will cry about how we went lower than we should. They wont think that being shitheads that don't travel anymore played into us dropping.

Sorry but no one from the south has any room to insult mid-westerners about much of anything short of weather.

Pretty sure you don't want to go there.

Heck, just in my short time on this board, I usually feel like "the smartest guy in the room" particularly compared to other boards....So let's not go there...mmmmmK?

Also, regardless of the outcome of this game, neither team can have an argument of "sleep walking" or "couldn't get up for it"

that's loser speak and excuses. The better team generally wins. That may very well be LSU and it may very well be big.

However, if Iowa beats LSU, it won't be because LSU didn't want to be there or were sleep walking or any other excuse. Park that weak a$$ $hit.

Im pretty sure YOU don't want to go there. IF you stick around long enough you'll be eventually feel like you've been castrated with a dull knife!
Know your place....you're a visitor here and as such, will be treated with a certain amount of hospitality, but don't push it with "I'm smarter than everyone else" stuff. It doesn't play well here.

I'm going, but after getting tickets through LSU last year I'm tired of the crappy allotment for bowl games that I can get better seats for on stubhub. I got tickets in the club level sideline for what LSU is charging for endzone seats.

I agree that it's not an excuse, but the truth is that we're just not excited to be playing y'all (at least the fans aren't excited). Plain and simple. It's not meant to be an insult, but it is what it is. It sucks that our fans are so fickle, but it's the nature of the beast when you play in the toughest division of the best conference in the country.

No doubt our recent history of traveling poorly to bowls will come back to bite us soon enough. If we don't make the playoffs next season, I fully expect Mike Slive to send us to the worst possible bowl that he can.

I'm fine wwith that LA longhorn but that is only for the fans. Fans are just that, fans.

18-22 football players and grown men that are coaching as a career and are paid for W's. They'll be ready.

Now, if LSU were 11-1 because they lost in OT in their last game of the regular season that would have put them in the NCG, then yeah, I could see the players and coaches having a bit of tough time getting up for this game.

Current circumstances? Nope. It's a bowl game. There's no reason for a 3 loss LSU team not to be excited to play. Period.

Anyone who says differently is delusional and/or making an excuse...just in case.

I agree 100%. There is no excuse for the team and the coaches not to be ready to play, but it's happened before. Miles has admitted on more than one occasion that he didn't have the guys motivated and prepared. I think this is what some people are expecting to happen.

That said, the topic of this thread is why our fans aren't excited about this game, not why the team might not be. It's still a damn shame that we will likely bring fewer fans to the bowl game than we did to our road games this season.

Fair enough. I still think any coach that says his players weren't motivated (unless a situation as I mentioned before) is using that as a cop out.

Being prepared is a different ball game. they then use their lack of preparation as an excuse to say they didn't have them motivated. that is the sign of a coach that isn't up to par. If that is a common occurence, it's time to move on big boy.

I'd say more often then not, that's the case. these aren't 30 year old NFL players collecting a paycheck in week 16 with a 3-12 record so motivation isn't the deal.
