there is no issue discussing a new topic regardless if it gets built or not...

I'm making her that way. I've been watching all the doomsday prepper type shite and reading books. I think it's getting in her head that some shite might one day go down. If I could get her to convert her clothes budget to guns I'd be set

minimum for materials and earthwork, im thinking 30-60K

honestly i would build at ground level and mound dirt on top since our water table is so high down here. If you live north of I-10 you may be able to do it below ground. I would make a 90deg zig zag right at the entrance so you can have a kill slot to repel intruders.

I would think the plant workers could steal something that they could use to make a shelter...

Shipping containers would work, but you would need to reinforce the roof with concrete to completely bury it. Adding to the cost.
Maybe if you could get some big concrete culverts. But that won't be cheap either.

I would love the first house, especially in a " The Purge" type event.

Renovating one of those old missile silos would be legit. If I get to the point where I have a house with enough land I'll build some kind of bunker. Does anyone else get excited about buying supplies or prepping for shite like hurricanes or other disasters? I don't want to go through one but it is fun to buy the shite.

Zombie bunker.
This is the new term for the new age.
You might get away with an underground bunker around Alexandria (maybe slightly further south, say, Glenmora) and points north, but below that, you are gonna be bailing water.

I'd be freaked out if my wife wanted a bomb shelter

Why? I take it as she's taking an intrest in my intrests and protecting the family. How much do cinder blocks cost usually?
