Does it seem to anybody else that Leonard still struggles knowing he didn't beat a man at his best?
That he knows he could not beat Duran truly?
That he knows he could not beat Duran truly?

I used to work with a guy in BR,Tony " The Tiger" Williams. He had an amature record of 112-8 in the 70's. Tony was supposed to fight in the Olympics with Sugar Ray but he was having problems with his eyesight, the doctors said he could lose his sight if kept fighting. He' brought a scrapbook to work one day with pictures of him and Sugar Ray sparing, Muhammad Ali had been to his house also. Tonys one of the nicest guys you could ever meet....wish he could have got his shot....I know CSB

Wiki says they fought again in 1989, but they never mentioned this fight in the documentary.

I think the truth is that Duran wasn't prepared and gave up . For some reason he can't admit it

This, plus the fact that Sugar was teasing him the entire fight. I think he just DGAF anymore and just walked.
He did have one of the greatest poker faces in the history of poker faces.

I think the truth is he got his money and didn't have a single frick to give after that

Duran was a world champion for a decade before he fought Leonard.
Leonard couldn't beat a young Duran.

They did but it was briefly at the very end

This is what I think. I believe they said it was the last time the promoter paid the fighter 100% upfront.
He just uses whatever excuse he can think of to justify it.

Maybe...but prolly not imo.
Not to take a 'I know how Hispanics think' angle but that simply doesn't jive with his background at all.
Duran had beaten SR at his best in a fair fight for all the marbles, while fighting above his weight class.
Hell I'm biased here, always pull for the grinder over the pretty boy champ everytime...
Great show...

Hagler v Hearns was better
most intense fight I ever saw

Leonard beat the other big 3...Duran, Hearns and even though he said it would "never happen," Hagler! The 13th-14th rounds vs. Hearns were epic...25 straight punches! Leonard fought everyone...Benitez, Canada's Golden Boy...everyone!

Classic example of fight or flight. Duran knew on that night he couldn't beat Ray. He chose the flight option.

Yeah, I was rooting for Leonard, but the stoppage was very disappointing!
