Valid criticisms. I'll try and at least address them.
Yeah, the Planes, Trains, and Automobiles thing is going to irritate the crap out of me. Definitely the weakest part of the episode.
I think the show has always been at its best when its playing with time and memory. It creates tight writing, and their use of flashbacks has always been pretty spot on. I think this plays to the show's strengths.
You're wrong.
Yes, but I do like how the show has found Douche-y Ted. and Douche-y Ted is funny Ted. Make him the thing we laugh at, not with. The driving glove argument is pretty classic Ted comedy. He's a pretentious boob. Run with it.

1.) If Sherri Shepard is going to be in the whole fricking season, I'll be pissed. She's only good in small doses. Uggh. She's aggravating. Maybe that's only me. My SO loves her so she was pumped. Marshall needs to be with the crew.

2.) This is going to feel like a whole long season unless the writing crew has really done a good job this off season. There's just not a lot of time/story to finish off right now, so obviously there's going to be a ton of flash-forwards (tonights I enjoyed).

3.) I'm still torn on the mother. She's pretty-ish, but still not sold on her character. I'm sure we'll learn more and grow to like her.

4.) Let's be honest. Ted just fricking sucks.

Yep. Both episodes were centered around mocking Ted for the most part, I thought just about all scenes with him delivered.
The vesuvius joke with Ted was about as good as HIMYM gets. GOT King Joff joke delivered as well.

That's right. I wonder if they'll follow up on that

Let them interact. Let's see their relationship take off. She's right there on screen. There's no need to keep teasing the audience anymore. It makes me not care about them because I know it's all a big tease.
Judging by the first two, I think they will show that interaction in the form of flash forwards.

I thought those were two solid episodes.
The mom has grown on me. She is real cute.

You just need to quit watching if those are your beefs with the show.
Oh yeah? Well, MAYBE I WILL. And THEN you'll be sorry!
(I just don't like flashbacks and flashforwards. It's okay to disagree)

Then why do you watch the show?

I thought they were two average episodes. The whole fight with the lady at the airport was kinda dumb, but at the end when she said that she gets to pick the music, I was waiting for the final cut scene to be them driving with "500 Miles" playing on repeat. Would have been epic.

Yeah I thought it was kind of "ehh". Just seemed like they are trying to hard. Still enjoyed watching it because now I'm in it until the end

Am I the only one who feels that Lily is possibly the most selfish character on the show?

She definitely has been a complete count to Marshall their entire relationship.

It doesnt help that Marshall is a pushover

I don't know if I've ever enjoyed Lily.
I liked these two episodes.
I dug Lily and the mom hanging on the train and how she and Ted share the same tastes (though I hope they don't overdo that, which I think they may).
If the whole season continues on the path set by the first two episodes, I'll be cool with that.
