I'm not sure he may be our best option at keeper. Not saying Nick Rimando is better but I did like how he would touch the ball (pass it out) instead of just kicking it out. I think Brad Guzan is a beast but I guess we shall see. Anyone else agree?

No, not really.

I think you could make a legitimate argument as to why Guzan deserves a crack at the first team, but to answer the OP, no.

That's like a Patriots fan making an argument for.... anyone to start over Tom Brady

It would be like that if the Patriots had a QB that outplayed Tom Brady for the majority of last season.

We need experience at the international level from our keeper. Tim has world cup experience and can go all tourettes on our back line if they frick up. When he plays for the stars and stripes he's one of our best players.

Guzan probably had a better 2012-13 EPL season, but Howard was pretty solid last night. Made 2 important saves in the second half, can't really say the goals were his fault, and he's still a solid keeper. Should be the man through next year, but Guzan seems like yet another good choice.

It's not like Howard plays behind a super-talented back line.

People often forget the matches where he absolutely saved our asses - it's easy to dwell on the goals let in.

Timmy has single handedly kept us in games countless times in the past.

Howard cost us in the world cup by letting in a near post goal vs Ghana.

He might make great saves but his positioning is not the best.

Howard was left out to dry on both goals against Ghana.

rimando played well in the gold cup...against a bunch of CONCACAF stiffs. he's 34 and has been in the national setup for over a decade though always down the pecking order.

howard is still the best option with guzan not far behind.

it's hard to find the perfect keeper. look at my favorite club team, paddy kenny is an excellent shot stopper but his distribution sucks giraffe dick. i've seen howard throw it numerous times.

You gotta be shitting me right now. Don't even mention Boca completely sucking dick in extra time that essentially handed them the game winner. It was 1-1 at the end of 90 minutes and you say Tim Howard "Cost us in the World Cup" because he allowed 2 goals in 120 minutes, one of which wasn't even remotely his fault.

Blaming the world cup goal on him is a bit extreme. I do realize how Guzan excels at positioning as opposed to Howard. Tim is why I am not afraid to play great teams, our defense makes stupid mistakes and then Howard saves us.

It's quite possible that guzan is better (slightly) at this point than howard, but howard is so comfortable playing with all our guys and so entrenched that I think he'd have to have a pretty bad epl season/injury knock to be supplanted.
