So what's the deal with the improvement?

Looking on RollTide.com, it's the same coaching staff of Murph, McMahon, Braud and Arbor that have been since 2024. Are they just finally gelling this well, is the freshman class just that good? Am I missing something else?

Lots of Bama fans making noise in the jungle on friday! You love to see it!
Agreed. Can we join the SWAC? Much better halftime shows

Check out the athletic department too. We now have an Assistant Athletics Director of Crimson Tide Hospitality(catering) ??

I mean, Bama Athletics is like a healthy 20 million in the black, we are not the same.
lost in the shuffle.... 16 minor tracks cut is pretty academically horrific for a small college. This is emergency level cuts, it must be really bad.

I still can't get over how tiny Talladega College thought starting a gymnastics team, one of the highest cost sports in terms of equipment and insurance, was any sort of a long term good idea.
Croyle would have been a Heisman NYC invite if he had an Nick Saban-level O-line.

This may be his best team in a while and we have a number 1 pitcher.

I'd be inclined to agree..... but I've seen us tear through the non-conference before only to sink in SEC play, so I'll hold for now. Hopefully this year is the year.

It took four years, but it seems like Ashley Priess Johnston has gotten Alabama back to at least the level it had been at before Dana Duckworth hit the eject button.

The next step will be getting back to Sarah's standard of a Finals night mainstay.

Then, endgame, replace OU as the school yard's bully.

At this point last year, Week 7.

Alabama was 17th in the nation and dead last in the SEC with an NQS of 196.625 and the season high of 197.075.

Currently the Tide is #3 in the country, leading the nation with LSU in what gymnastics fans know is likely is a battle for Silver in a world where Oklahoma is at full strength.

A pretty incredible rebound so far for the coaching staff as every single meet this year has been above 197 for a 197.521 average.
Good, I'm sick and tired of adding juggernauts that make life harder. Let's add some wins.
4 years of statistically improving on a back burner sport.

Hard to argue with the extension unless you live and die by our volleyball team.

I agree, if this was a revenuer... or even softball or gymnastics, she'd be gone by now.
Virginia Tech and one of the NC schools would round out the states that seceded.

Yep. We're genuinely a consistent vault rotation away from being a truly championship viable candidate. (ie, we're probably still a year out from another trophy)

Last year beam was dismal, and vault and floor were ok, while bars was hot or cold... all of which are fatal in a sport ruled by averages.

4 meets into 2026 and Alabama is ranked Top 10 in all events, #2 in the nation in bars and floor in fact.

We'll learn a LOT about this team this week heading into the practically unwinnable quagmire that is An Oklahoma Home Meet. If Bama wants to stay in the Top 5 by the end of the year for that sweet Regional Seeding, low 197s aren't going to cut it much longer.
I always forget Gottfried was a transfer. An Oral Roberts man before giving us a couple seasons.
If I was neutral.... and because it would be a GREAT situational "Epic Moments of the Game" type challenge mode, the 2018 Collin Sexton team for the 3 man game vs Minnesota would be my pick.

Probably one of the more notable crazy moments Alabama has been involved with in college basketball history.
Possible candidates.

1956 Alabama. Jerry Harper and the undefeated "Rocket 8" ride again.

1975 Alabama. Many regard as CM Newton's finest team, Final Four worthy but ran into undefeated Indiana in a tournament before seeding. Reggie King, Leon Douglas, TR Dunn.

1985 Alabama. 2 straight Sweet Sixteens for Wimp's troupe of Derrick McKey, Buck Johnson, Bobby Lee Hurt, Mark Gottfried, Jim Farmer and Terry Coner.

1991 Alabama. Latrell Sprewell, Hollywood Robinson and Robert Horry lead a 3x SEC champions to the Sweet Sixteen.

2002 Alabama. Gottfried's SEC Championship Tide achieve the first ever AP #1 rank thanks to Mo Williams, Kennedy Winston, Chuck Davis, Erwin Dudley and Antoine Pettway.

2004 Alabama. Elite Eight Gang. Davis, Winston and Pettway again with Earnest Shelton, Jermareo Davidson.... and walk on dunk machine Jason Reese.

2012 Alabama. Anthony Grant's high flying, undefeated at home, lone NCAA trip, high water season. JaMychal Green, Tony Mitchell, Releford, Lacey, Randoph, Jacobs, Coooooooooper!

2018 Alabama. Why use 5 players when you can try with 3? Collin Sexton, Herb Jone, John Petty, Donta Hall, Riley Norris.

2023 Alabama. #1 in the Nation. Nate Oats delivers Alabama's first number one seed along with an SEC Championship. Brandon Miller, Mark Sears, Noah Clowney, Quinerly, Bediako, Bradley, Gurley and Co. restore Bama to the top.

2024. Final Four. A roster less NBA studded than last year, but Sears, Estrada, Nelson, Griffen, Pringle and Wrightsell, achive what no Bama (men's) team has ever done.... at long last, the Final Four.

Other?
Chills man.

Eddie has to be the last employed link this program has to the Bryant Era.

Now we're down to living connections.

Yep. The freshman had an off night and the team still put up a season high. Gonna need that kind of clutch play in March and April.

Azaraya has won SEC Gymnast of the week.

Not freshman of the week, gymnast of the week. She is looking like an athlete that could be the face of the program sooner than later.
This. It's The Economy Stupid.

1992.

Watching a victorious war President with 80% approval ratings go on to LOSE an election... and badly, was wild. But yeah, if the economy soars, the GOP soars with it.
