When have we ever cared what ESPN thinks
Posted on 8/13/13 at 5:17 pm to TigerinATL
I mean it's not that inconceivable to think that we won't make the playoffs.
We still have questions at the 3 and 5. I think we will be teetering between 11th-7th spots in the west for most of the season

National media is evil. No respect, etc. etc. Seriously, though, doesn't seem to be a wholly unreasonable opinion.

When was the last time a team in the west in the playoffs finished under .500?
Posted on 8/13/13 at 5:36 pm to TigerinATL
If Eric Gordon doesn't bitch out for a large portion of last season, they win 40 games.
With an improved roster, and hopefully no major health issues, this team is easily above .500
Why the Pelicans will win more than 40 games:
There's been an upgrade at the point guard spot. I really like Vasquez, but he was way too slow, and a liability on the defensive side of the ball. Jrue Holiday will compliment the players on this team well, and he instantly makes the perimeter defense better. He is also super young, super talented player that will only get better.
Eric Gordon apparently wants to be here. Yes, he has been a gigantic pussy. But, when he wants to play he is an extremely talented SG, on both sides of the ball. The improved roster has seemingly lit a spark in him, and apparently caused a growth of balls.
Tyreke Evans cost a good bit of money, but he's who they wanted. They did what they could to get him, because they felt he was a piece that really brought the roster up a notch. He is another guy who can defend well. He is extremely versatile, and can/will be used at the one, two and three. Not only that, he is excellent at attacking which makes it easier for...
Ryan Mother-fricking Anderson. He is amongst the best shooting big men in the league, and is going to make teams pay. Last season he was often the only option. This season, there are several others, which will give him more open looks.
The staff at ESPN, which seems to be filled with What's Eating Gilbert Grape - level - retards, did get something right recently. In the 5 on 5 article, many believe Anthony Davis will be the best PF in the game in the near future. They seem to think very highly of Davis, as they should, for his ceiling is incredibly high. He will be improved this season, with more experience and some much needed additional weight. If Davis continues to elevate his game, which must happen, the Pelicans become not just a good, but a dangerous young team.

Like seriously, people still look at ESPN stuff?
It's not even a "they don't like my team so they suck" type deal
It's just sports for retards. Everything is pre-packaged and marketed for big city/market consumers and is all lowest common denominator garbage.
I mean serious question, do they even employ actual sportswriters anymore? It just seems like Teen People with a slight sports lean to it.

Like I was hoping for a well thought out article explaining the reasons why ESPN chose it how they did, but it's all stupid fricking "hastag" Twitter retardation people seem to fricking eat up with a spoon these days
God forbid anyone actual sits down and writes something with a rational thought in it, let's just rot the already non-existent intelligence of our society to thimble-size with this social media bullshite everyone laps up

I assume this means they used whatever the PECOTA of basketball is.
Not shocking. Holiday and Gordon had meh seasons in terms of advanced stats/efficiency. My only question is if the numbers factor less usage for Holiday/Gordon/Evans. Less USG usually means better efficiency.

Didn't want to start a thread but apparently Ryan Amdersons girlfriend is in critical condition. Mcnamera tweeted.

ESPN.com has some good NBA writers. Abbott and Pelton know their stuff and some of the team blogs are very good. The guys on tv are garbage.
