I gained respect for him. He's shown a willingness to suspend players who deserve it, and yesterday he showed he's willing to stand up for his guys when a strange situation happens. It would have been far easier to suspend him than to do what he did imo.

1. You have no idea whether there isn't some form of game suspension. Has Miles come out and said that Hill will be playing against TCU? If so, I missed that.
2. Miles has consistently suspended/booted players. Heisman trophy finalist, starting QB a week before the season, Perilloux, etc. I trust his decision making on how to discipline his players to the extent he feels necessary.
Not even slightly.

No it didn't. Some fans and some media made it a much bigger deal than it was in reality.

He kicked a heisman finalist off the team last year and the Jeremy Hill punishment is not settled yet.
Just admit you have never respected Miles.

We should trade him in for the perfect coach. No way a program as significant as LSU's should be without the perfect coach.

How many games did Johnny manziel miss for his bar fight?

I'm generally a Miles guy. I don't think he goes without criticism (1/9, clock management fiasco, etc.) but I believe he's done an excellent job with this program and have always respected how he's handled issues with players. That changed for me some with him not laying out some form of suspension yesterday. The Hill story has become too big to not do SOMETHING. Even if he would have confirmed that Hill would be missing a yet undecided amount of game time, to be determined internally, that would have been fine. I don't think he's "lost control of the team" or any crap like that. But for a guy who is always painted as a family man with great moral character, I think he comes off as more worried about winning with his lack of action yesterday. Thoughts?
If anything, I gained some for him not listening to morons like the OP. What exactly has JH done since stepping foot on campus? Let's see, be a workhorse when our #1 RB went down, and got into a fist fight. Yeah, drop that loser.

Lost no respect for Miles at all. Miles and the team know a lot more about JH then you or I.

Haha, I get the jab at the username, I guess I was kind of doing the same thing.
My point of view I guess is more from the fact that I grew up in Baton Rouge, graduated from LSU, even worked there for a stint. It's kind of embarassing to see a player getting into altercations like that, when he was already on probation for getting a BJ from a minor. Hill is far from a choir boy that just got in a bar room mix up.
I think Miles will still be disciplining Hill accordingly, I just wish from a PR stand point there would have been a little more said up front.

He's gained even more respect from me

Not at all
He does what he thinks is right to keep the team spirit right. I think its clear he doesn't want things to get out of hand with the team, wants to make sure all are held responsible for their actions.

What's worse - internal punishment handed down by your peers, or a suspension?
I think the LSU honor council is working fairly well. This was a terrible incident by a young man who was already on probation. However, it is an opportunity for him to learn and others to learn.

I'm overseas and have had shotty internet the past few months, so I haven't really been able to keep up with this.
Having said that, am I missing something? He punched a kid in bar fight, right? Why is the media and other people making such a big fricking deal about this? It's not like he was selling drugs, killed someone while driving drunk, stabbed a teammate or any of the countless other things that college football players seem to do on a yearly basis.
I honestly hope he's not suspended for the TCU game. Make him run some stadiums and move on.

Nope. Not at all. If fact, when I saw the Hill video, I felt that it was even less severe than when I first heard about it. I think Miles did the right thing in this case.

Why? Because a girl that was 14 wanted to suck his dick? You would have gladly accepted a blowjob when you were senior in high school from a freshman.
