Using duck decoys for catfish jugs

Has anyone ever used duck decoys as catfish jugs? I'll be fishing a new pond (5 acres) on Thursday and the friend I am going with wants to catch some cats for a fish fry. I don't have lots of plastic bottles around, but sure have plenty of decoys.
I'm just looking to avoid any major/obvious issues and thought it would be fun to try out. Maybe during duck season I can catfish and duck hunt at the same time...

Seriously? Buy some fun noodles for $5/pc if you can't round up some bottles. Come on brother you're not that poor. Then you never have to worry about it again either. They wrap up nice.
ETA: I'll admit using the catfish as a pull cord would be hilarious. Prob be out of range tho.

I honestly can't think of any reason it wouldn't work.
Only possibility would be that if they're too heavy, not allowing for a good hook set on the smaller ones. That's a reach though. I'd definitely give it a go.

Not bad. Some of the guys near my camp use those noodle floats cut in to one foot long pieces. We always have them around but I never tried.

Too much effort, rigging and un-rigging decoys. Also is this a public pond? I don't want nobody stealing my dekes

And when a catfish gets on, it provides movement for your decoys.

knew a guy who used to hunt marsh who used turkey necks as weights. crabs would make the decoys move. after they killed their limit, they had crabs. win, win.

I used to use decoys for jugs in my neighbors pond......works like a charm.

I for one am not leaving my decoys unattended.

Have to agree with apeman. Those noodles are perfect for this type of fishing. Weight stores on hole and you bury hook in foam when done. You're asking for a cluster with the weights and hooks dangling off your flocked mallard decoys.

Sure would add some nice motion to your spread, I like it.
