Spent well over $350 bucks this weekend to fish Friday and Saturday on gas, groceries, bait, etc. Only caught 4 reds and 13 trout between the two days, almost burned up my outboard, and spent all day today fixing misc crap on the boat as well as cleaning and waxing it.

For what I pay ever year to hunt and fish I could eat lobster and kobe beef every night and never get frustrated over not producing well over the weekend.

With that said, hope the weather's good this weekend so I can do it all over again!

Don't put too much thought into it, and never put it in print again. Womenz read this board too.

The satisfaction of filling an ice chest full of trout and reds outweighs most luxuries IMO

Because a bad day of fishing is better than a good day doing anything else.

Because there are those trips that make all the trips that you get skunked well worth it

I spent about $20 in gas for the truck and a couple bottles of water and a protein bar fishing today. 3 reds.

Yak fishing FTW. Where's that dude with the $900 boat that says yak fishing isn't about saving money.

Just kidding.

I have no arguments against hunting or fishing, I just could never get into it. I always felt like Mel Gibson in Lethal Weapon 3 with the Rottweiler. "I can't shoot a dog. People yes. But not dogs." Only dogs can be substituted for most animals.

With that said, if it were legal to own flamethrowers my weekend hobby would be curtailing certain snake populations and I wouldn't feel at all bad about it.

The anticipation.

Example: When I am in a duck blind looking up at the sky and knowing that birds can show up at any second I am constantly on an adrenaline edge. Nothing else comes close.

You did something wrong this weekend. We had 16 gallon bags of filets yesterday between two boats.

This is my problem with deep sea fishing. I can't afford to go full bore so I can't get into it. I'm all I'n when it comes to ducks and deer which leaves little funding for a yacht.

Because it's awesome, and cheap, unless I fly.

Because it's not about the meat.

It's about the hunt.

1) it's fun as frick
2) it eases my mind
3) I like the idea of knowing that I could survive on my own (though I know I'll never have to)
4) it taste better when you kill/catch it

Damn that is a rough w/e. Glad I stayed home.

We caught 2-3 trout one day last year...spent over $300 for those trout. I like fall fishing.
