One of the best tips the DRIVEMAN has gotten for chipping is making sure you always KEEP your hands in front of the ball. Worked wonders. Any other small tips to help improve you're game????

On a serious note, lessons, and practice, practice, practice. Particularly the short game.

Look at the hole when taking practice strokes on the green.

Put up onto the green. I've recently dropped 4 strokes off my handicap by doing this from 40 or so yards out and in. Takes the traps out of play. It's the old "Texas wedge".

Driveman.....I saw a post you made a while ago about genesis pure. A friend of mine is the person who sought it out and brought it down here from Misouri and my wife got involved. If u want information on it post your email and I can send some info and answer any questions.

You putt from 40 yards off the green? I'd love to see that. I actually agree that a lot of amateurs could get the ball closer by doing that, I've just never seen someone putt from that far away other than on TV at the British Open.

I putt everything 20-25 yards in.

40 yards? Geez. You're almost taking a full swing with your putter from there. I'm more likely to mess up a putt from that distance than a chip/pitch.

Two things that have helped me. One, unless its WIDE OPEN or 400+ par 4, no reason to hit driver. Hit hybrid or 3 wood in fair way and have 7-9 on 2nd shot. Two, I started chipping with PW every time unless there is something between me and the green. 10x more accurate than 56 or 60* wedge.

Be in the moment. The only thing you should be thinking about after you finish a hole is your next swing. Don't be thinking 1 or 2 or 3 holes ahead.

This. Pick out a piece of grass behind your ball and hit ...then keep your eye down on it. Don't lift your head so fast to see the flight.
Second tip... If you are a right handed person. Think left handed. Get most of your force from your left side. It's like a tennis player using a back hand.
Third tip... Never pay for golf lessons if you're not a pro. It's a waste of time and money.
Fourth tip... never practice. It's a waste of time and money. Just play. It's a game and you're never gonna make any money from it.

Thanks Z-bo
Is trying to swing your left elbow thought your left knee a good PLAN of attach?
And should you always be conscious of turning your hips all the way through to prevent a fade?

I get what you're saying here, but why not just look at the back of the ball? And one of the most misunderstood "lessons" is when amateurs think they need to "keep their head down." Keep it still, but not necessarily down.

This is just false. Lessons aren't for everyone, but they can help a lot of people. I haven't taken a lesson in 20 years, but the ones I took helped set up the foundation I have now.

I play for money every week. So each week is a chance for me to make money. And I think practicing is fun. I spent 2 hours on the range this morning and had a blast.
