Gov. Bobby Jindal's appointees on the state's wildlife and fisheries regulatory panel are threatening to sue the governor's administration, The Associated Press reports. At issue is Jindal's continuing diversion of millions of dollars donated by oil companies—specifically to turn old drilling rigs into artificial reefs—to instead pay for other items across state government. Jindal proposes using nearly $21 million from the fund for public colleges in the 2013-14 budget that he submitted to lawmakers. That would nearly drain the fund. Billy Broussard, vice chairman of the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission, says if the fund gets raided again without plans for repayment, the commission intends to file a lawsuit. Sean Lansing, a spokesman for Jindal, says the administration is continuing negotiations with commission members about the money, without offering further details.

I love this. LDWF is really stepping up. Finally government for the people.

I'd vote for jindal again without a doubt.

He's a politician and therefor I hate him, but he's done an overall very good job IMO

I sat in a meeting and told them this shite was going to happen in the next budget. He keeps increasing spending and revenue is dropping, math doesn't work unless he sweeps the funds again. "Oh no, the Governor has given us assurances he was going to leave money in the fund." Was even told to lay off of him because he gave us money for a trust to build a few reefs. Just hush money and we rolled over and spread our legs. F him, that money was dedicated for reef building.

If you think Jindal has done a good job then you should research what he has done to the Louisiana public school system.

One example being that he has made it to where if someone retires from the school board, that person cannot go back and teach and still draw retirement. They would only receive teachers salary, not salary and retirement.

Reason behind doing this was to encourage long time employees of the school system to stay retired to make more jobs available for young teachers.

This makes sense...IF we have a shortage of teaching jobs in Louisiana...but we don't. In fact, many parishes have a hard time getting enough teachers.

Sorry....kinda got carried away there

Pretty much all he can cut is education and healthcare.

Some of the stuff his administration has done in this regard, or wants to do, should be criminal in my opinion.

This thread isn't going to be hijacked over public school issues. We keep throwing money at it and keep getting less in return. Tenure should be eliminated, if you're a good teacher your job is secure, if you suck flip burgers. But you damn well shouldn't be able to retire on my tax dollars while spitting out juvenile delinquents that can't spell their names or read on 3rd grade level at 18.

I really don't understand the hate for Jindal.

The man had to cut hundreds of millions from the budget, you know, b/c LA has a balanced budget amendment (thankgod), and every time I ask someone that bitches about the spending cuts from education and health, I ask them, OK... 'where did you want him to get the money from?'

Crickets.

Yeah he's a f&^$ing politician, but would you want a Dem in office trying to raise 4 or 5 hundred million in new taxes? Hell to the frick no.

That's the reason we all pay a GD state revenue tax to begin with.

So now that he's emptied all the dedicated funds, where does the money come from next year? If higher Ed and healthcare are the only things he can cut, change to state constitution so other things can be cut. Just like the lottery money, say its for higher Ed then goes to general fund. What's the incentive for the oil companies to continue to participate in a program that the state uses as its slush fund to prop up community colleges and methadone clinics?

I don't have to like a dickbag because he's a better dickbag than the other dickbag. I can dislike both dickbags.

What reason again? You never pointed one out.

So you hate every single politician that's ever lived?

Eta: To respond to the OP...It does seem like a dick move. But I guess he decided education > than reefs.
