How Do They Know???

So, the Lab has been sleeping all morning as I go about the house and piddle around. The instant that I pull the camo pants off the rack in the closet she is standing beside me...
I want to know the OB opinions. I think my dog and previous dogs are somewhat psychic. Anyone else have a dog that knows when they are about to go do something fun?

maybe they are hearing you say what you're about to do and recognize the words associated.

Our terrier knows our walking shoes from our work shoes. Knows my wife's walking pants.
If she sees me hook up to the camper, she goes nuts.

There is no doubt about it. Try this as I did many years ago. It worked then and has worked on every dog since.
While sitting in the easy chair start paying attention to your dog when you get up. If you are headed to the kitchen or outside the dog will rise with you. If you are just getting up to grab a book or go to the restroom the dog might look at you but they know there is no need in them standing up.

If I stop, my lab runs into the back of my leg. All day, every day. He doesn't want to miss anything.

my dog (wiemerainer - sp?) knows the instant i put tennis shoes on that we're going outside and gets really excited. She's an mostly inside dog and seems to know the diff between work shoes or boots and my tennis shoes.

By myself. I have gone in that closet 10 times today (brewing supplies and guns). She only got up and got interested when I pulled those pants off the hanger. She was on the other side of the house too....It doesn't just have to be "Those Pants" it can be anything involving her...

My lab goes crazy when he sees the gun!
Whats crazier than that, he will NEVER hump a leg unless you have in camo! Anyone with camo he WILL hump that leg!

My dog smells girl's cooters and gives me the OK when they are in season.
He also starts bouncing off the walls when I grab a gun, like this

They know. My cur follows me everywhere. If I let him in the house I will step on him hes so close under my feet. Everywhere but the bathroom. I will turn around at the door and go wait on my in the bedroom. He's smart enough to know not to follow me in there.

She either can hear this and recognize the sound or potentially she can smell those pants. Smart dogs.

Ours knows when it's fishing time when she hears me open up my shed where I keep my rods.

No doubt about it. Mine really starts freaking when she sees me grab her collar, at that point she really knows it's time.
Side question I was wondering about yesterday. Why do they hate when you blow in there nose, but will hang there head out the window doing 55 down the highway?

My catahoula knows when I put on scrubs versus other clothes. If its regular jeans/boots he's excited and happy. I put on scrubs and he's like "aww shite, I'm going in the pen" I have to bribe/trick him to get out of the house. Today I had to go get in my truck, honk the horn, and start backing out of the driveway before he walked out side. He knows the difference, he did follow me out when I went to warm the vehicles up, but when I carried that coffee cup with me he hid behind the couch.

Dogs don't get enough credit for how intelligent they really are. They learn their owner's patterns and can equate what they see to an activity. Mine do the same thing.
I can say "I'm going to the basement" and they head right to the door and go downstairs and wait till I get there. They also know when I tell them I'm going outside and they head to the back door. Very smart.

My old lab used to go sit by my boots whenever he saw me put my hat on.
