I’m a cheap bastard so I consider $40 for a plastic flip up expensive. But yeah, i paid about $50 for my front sight. That’s why the choice between those and a cheap red dot is not about the money.

Little over $1,000. Which is what I'm seeing the gun priced at online...
Damn, what the Colt now going for?

Colt is now owned by CZ.
For the last 20yrs Colt has relied on it name only. There are plenty of AR that are much better than a Colt.

You really need to spend more than $35 for a red dot. Those cheap Amazon sights are for airsoft and air rifles. Holosun (China) and Sig (China, Philippines) make very reliable red dots for not much more.

Assuming one could afford one and had the right licenses, permits, stamps etc.... How much is a 57 year old, Vietnam issued M16A1 worth? Full auto with duckbill flash suppressor and in good condition.

Is it transferrable or not?
If it's transferrable all you need is a $200 stamp if you are an individual.

Yes its transferable, but I was just wondering what the gun would be worth.

Yeah the Romeo is fantastic for the price. Also Primary Arms if you want something with a bigger FOV.

That's incredible. Because it can fire full auto the price increases from $2,500 for the semi auto AR15A1 version to $45k for the full auto version?

For one to be transferrable it has to be manufactured prior to 1986.
That number of weapons is finite and highly desirable.
Actually a great investment.

This is the reason why I believe full autos will never be removed from the NFA.

biglego, if you don't mind demo'd/refurb'd, EuroOptic is a great site to get a good optic at a discount. Any damage (I've yet to find any on the 'used' items I've bought from them) is guaranteed to be cosmetic. The glass will be fine

It's the transferability that makes it valuable

Quite true, but many people still go wild for the Pony rollmark and "C" markings on the rifle.
Newer Colts are actually made pretty well, especially their SOCOM barrels, but they're all outsourced to OEM manufacturers now instead all parts being made in-house.
Colts also still hold pretty good resale value, for whatever that's worth, but, yes, there are many other options out there now in the same price range. Old timers and cloners and Vets are essentially all Colt has now as a customer base.
BCM and DD have now all but replaced the old Colt civilian market share.

KAC is supposed to be one of the best ARs out there but hard to come by.
I have 2 Radians that I wouldn’t trade for any other AR.

Yeah the Zion has replaced the 6920 as the go-to AR for under $1k. Colt does make the 6960 but it’s about 10 years too late.
