Recent books that I have read and really enjoyed were Tycoons, Nudge, The Art of Possibility, The Ascent of Money and Thank You Economy

Tycoons was my favorite out of those followed by Thank You Economy. The Ascent of Money is very interesting but somewhat long compared to the others. Nudge is a psychological look at what makes us make certain decisions and Thank You Economy is about targeting consumers in an economy where businesses are struggling/customer relationship building. Tycoons is a biography type book on Gould, Rockefeller, Carnegie, and Vanderbilt but deals more with how they were intertwined in their businesses and the effect it had on our nation.

I recently read The Secret: What Great Leaders Know and Do. It was a nice quick read on leadership and management.

Not what you are asking for but look into your chamber of commerce and look at a Leadership program. I did Leadership Ascension last year and got way more out of it than I thought I would. You may of already of been through a program like this, or it may not be the right time for it, as it takes a large time commitment, but if the program is done right it is very rewarding.

I just put most of my books in storage, but off of the top of my head: FM 6-22 or FM 22-100, The Mask of Command, In the Company of Soldiers, Leadership: The West Point Lecture, Tribal Leadership.

FM 22-100 was probably the single most influential (if you want to call it that) piece of literature (if you want to call it that) in my life.

I've been recommended "Drive" by Daniel Pink. I have not read it, although I stuffed it into my Christmas Shopping for a holiday read. One of my friends who started a business a little over two years ago, read that book during the build up phase to launching his own start up. He said it was inspiring to him. I can't provide much about it from my own personal perspective, simply word of mouth.

The Caine Mutiny

Seriously, it is a great book on leadership and how it can be misunderstood.

How to Argue and Win Every Time. It's an easy read but very powerful.

I gave my son Nick Saban's "How Good Do You Want To Be" around the time he was interviewing for jobs. He used some of the "buzz" words in his interviews.

It's a great book on leadership even if you are not a Bama Fan.

Jack: Straight from the Gut by Jack Welch
It's a book about managing a business and leadership so it may be what you are looking for.
