you people are idiots, You guys act like good coaches are a dime a dozen, look around there aren't that many great coaches out there. Do you idiots not remember Dinardo and Hallman? It is not easy to build and maintain a program but it wont take but a year or two to dismantle a program. You don't want a winning coach to leave your program. I don't believe Less is going to leave but you guys need to wake up and realize we have one of the best at LSU and we need to keep him.

Just ask yourself one question....If Les replaced Dinardo in 1999, does he have the winning percentage he has now, and is LSU in the shape it's in now?

Are you willing to give up a SURE THING in 10 win
seasons, possible BCS appearances, etc etc with Miles, are do you want to give him up and POSSIBLY hire a new guy that may or may not fit? If you don't hire the right guy, you're looking at a 4-5 year rebuilding issue after that replacement is gone.

Damn right ... oh .. Oops, wrong board.

CLM frustrates me on a regular basis ... but, the results speak for themselves.

All things considered, I thought CLM did a pretty good job this year.

Miles didn't have a track record either, we took a HUGE chance on the guy.

LSU is in a completely different place than the Nebraska's of the world. We have momentum, high visibility, recruiting, no in state rival, money, facilities, etc all on our side. Do you guys really beleive that no good coach will want to come here? What planet are you living on? It's a coaches dream to come here and just pick up the ball and start running with it. You don't have to rebuild anything, it's the same thing Miles did when he came here, just continue rolling.

I think all the same people that has been unhappy with 10 win seasons better be careful what they wish for. It's not like LSU can just snap their finger and a superb coach is just going to all of the sudden jump as high as they say. Have you guys seen the talent pool as far as head coaching names at this point? To think that LSU can just snag anyone from a lateral job is jus arrogant and irresponsible. LSU is not immune to becoming an average program. (See Alabama recently, Tennessee, Texas, USC)

If Miles goes to Arkansas, that'd be Saban AND Miles taking recruits out of Louisiana. Both have strong ties across the state and if you think that the '13 class wouldn't just fall sort with those OOS recruits, you're crazy.

Then, with as strong as the '14 class is as well, I think that wouldn't be as strong without Miles also.

There are so many subplots here that people just aren't thinking bout because they dislike Miles despite his record. Like some people are saying, you guys better be careful what you wish for.

please advise us of the other LSU coaches who have come close to a 85-20 record in 8 seasons???
love how people act like 'duh! anyone could do what miles has done!'

if that's the case then how come no one else has?

check SPEEDY's thread; we've been playing football for over 100 years and Miles is setting new marks for excellence in several categories.

So Peterson and _____ would win at least 12 games a year here? In the SEC... not the WAC, Big East, or Mountain West... the SEC.

I think you are missing the point, it can't really. getany better.

It's funnier that there are people that think LSU will just move on and sustain this success.

Name one time in LSU history we have been at this level when in need of a coach. We have nothing to base it on. CLM came here after Saban and did a great job so who is to say someone can't follow CLM and do the same or better?

Yeah, better off. Good luck finding the right guy to do that.
I think it's possible. It's not a slame dunk, nothing ever is, but to say that there wouldn't be some good choices from a large pool of candidates just isn't true.

i bet you could find a lot of Nebraska/Tennessee/USC/Alabama/Michigan fans that said the same thing over the past 15 years.

"All you guys hoping he leaves to Arkansas better be careful what you wish for....."

I see no reason to give Miles a substantial raise at this point, while he is under contract and without winning a championship of any sort, but I absolutely agree with the quoted statement. There is significant risk of the program falling off if Miles leaves becasue there is no telling who we would get.

Horrible analogy. LSU is at a level now where we can command excellence. We are no longer a desperate school. Get your head out of your arse and look around, stop having beaten wife syndrome.

because it hardly ever happened that way, in the history of college football? Les is kind of special in that way.

The list of powerful programs who thought exactly the way you do about this, and faltered big time, is very long.

Well WHO??
Lets look at some of the best names, shall we?
Stoops, Miles has a better track record, next
Meyer, not happening
Sumlin, has a Heisman candidate for a QB, that makes any coach look good (Chizik, anyone)
Kelly, no thanks.
