that's a cop out... if you're serious about improving your deer, speak out to your club and adjoining clubs. If you alone let 4 young bucks walk each year, chances are that maybe 1 or 2 of those will make it to be a much better deer next year and much much better in 2 years, a trophy, perhaps.
that's like saying, "i ain't gonna go vote, cause obama is gonna get reelected anyway"... You have a choice, do something about it.. kill a doe for the meat, hope that your actions and the ones you infleunce make better deer for you club..
on the other hand, hunting should be fun, again, it's your choice, do what makes you happy... just don't bitch about your club not having any good deer.

Well put good sir. I don't even deer hunt anymore, but I have witnessed first hand what good management can do to a place.

I would, big bodied dear like that....hell yeah.

Only thing big about that deer's body is it's long legs. Looks like a new born giraffe.

That's a young deer, let him walk.

Always a possibility that someone else may not see him though. Personal preference but i would let him walk.

Shoot him if you want to kill a buck. It's like your first piece of tail. We aren't gonna all put ours in a frame on the wall, or put her in the Sportsman Magazine, but dammit it happened and it was awesome. You have plenty of time to search for quality. Gotta get it when you can.

What would you do with the rack if you did? Mount him? Of course not. Would you be proud and show him of the all your buddies? Nope. You would probably cut the horns off and the would collect dust in your garage or get hung on a skinning rack. Just shoot a doe instead.

Yep, would be more sausage to be made with a fat doe anyway.

Put him down, on your next buck wait until it is bigger.

So far he's the only buck I have on camera

On one of my cameras I have had 6 different legal bucks in the last three weeks. The one I killed monday I hadn't seen yet this year.

I'll probably take him if I see him because I doubt I'll see him next year.

I've got a deer that I've been watching for the last three years. He started out looking like that and now is close to an 140 inch 12pt.

Let him walk he has brow tines so he just needs some time to grow. He is no old enough to be considered a cull in my opinion.

Nope, too young. He might be a nice 8 next year.

I wish we had a pic of Alx's cull 6pt that he shot on Davis Island a couple of years ago. Acorn tip points, 5 1/2 year old deer. Sumbitch needed killin.

If he were older and still like that I would say yes for the sake of taking him out of the breeding pool. Other than that I wouldn't shoot it. At my club I would have the shite fined out of me. For me has to be 8 or greater and 14 inches on the inside. Usually 3 years or greater if you feel like he is young we let him walk.
