I loved the series when it came back in '86 and actually considered them our biggest rival. I'd love over time to see the Arkansas game get moved and A&M be our season ending game in time.

Lots of big games and moments over the years.

Be careful what you wish for. Rumblings are that this game will end up being played on Thanksgiving night in the near future.

I'm pretty fired up about it. LSU needs a rival and the "rivalry" between LSU and Arky seemed forced. Seemed? No, it WAS forced. This has a good chance of becoming a great rivalry. I'm with you that I'd like to see the LSU-A&M game become our season-ender.

Not me. More teams in the SEC; I did not want.

RC Slocum played here at McNeese St and grew up I believe in nearby Oakdale, so it was of special interest having a hometown boy coach at that level. I hated aTm in the 90's

Get ready to have Thanksgiving dinner every other year at your tailgate if this happens.

I am excited but not nearly as much as I was about this rivalry when I lived in SW LA. With Tejas looming just across the Sabine and with all of Slocum's La. connections, it made things really spicy, at least for me.

That was a strange 10 year run we had with A&M. I think A&M won 6 of 10, but it was LSU doing most of the good work early in the series and then A&M dominating as LSU entered the dark years.

Big time excited. This is and will be the bitter rivalry that we've kind of been missing. The forced-Arkansas game just didn't do it for me. I think our series with Auburn has been great since the league expanded in the early 90's, but they will always hate Bama more.

And with A&M not playing Texas anymore, I think the feelings will be mutual.

Based on many of the threads on here all week, it looks like things picked up where they left off when the series ended in '95.

When I was in school at A&M in the late 80's/early '90s the LSU game was actually more fun than Texas. The hate was STRONG. Great way to kick off the season. Ironically I could see in a few years the roles reversing and A&M playing Texas early with LSU as the season ender. Back then it was so rough for Aggies going to Baton Rouge that if you were in the Corps you were actually told not to wear your uniform, the only place they had that rule.

So many connections between the schools. John David Crow. Billy Cannon Jr. Harvey Williams. Bucky Richardson. Curley Hallman. The hard feelings are many and varied. So many Ags and Tigers work in the oil business together. So many Louisiana Ags and Tigers from Texas. If A&M wins this weekend btw it will get NASTY from then on. Once LSU truly sees A&M as equal competition watch out.

I know you guys hate the Thanksgiving idea but if it happens you will grow to love it. Turkey at the tailgate is awesome and you are also guaranteed for it to be a night game. You can also still have an early Thanksgiving meal with the family and make the game in most cases. Why be just another game on Friday or Saturday? Also, every other year CBS gets the Cowboys game so you would have the lead up all day and have our game follow theirs.

Glad to see it return, I just don't want the game to be the beginning of the season like it used to be. That place is fricking hot in Sept.

Not me. We need a true Southern rivalry. Hopefully Ole Miss can get back to form.

I'm really stoked about the series coming back but not about the possibility of it being Thanksgiving weekend. I'd rather it be the SEC opener or like this in mid October. I'm hoping Texas sacks up and agrees to play them again.

Me. Living in Tejas for 20+ years & working around tons of Ags, this game will be fun every year.

Plus, LSU/aTm has history going back to 1899--the UArk force fit never caught on.
