14 other teams in the ACC
and since ND needs to play 15 games vs ACC in 3 years, that means they will all have to be rotated equally. .
look at my other post, you guys get clemson,vt and fsu but only one team each season while the rest of the slate will be the rest of the awful ACC. Once again great money move by the ND basically treating the ACC like the BE while keeping its status and getting even more TV while the ACC really does not upgrade its football.

don't see how vanderbilt would benefit from it though..
Really? Its a much better academic fit since it is a private school. Depending on much the new ACC contract is worth, the money might be there as well.
Plus, they would undoubtedly be more competitive in the ACC than in the SEC.

They have to know that no one really cares about them anymore besides NBC. Just get over your "tradition" and get with the times.
Ah...and yet this thread and pages and pages...ND makes CFB fans say shite they don't mean.

Why in the name of all that is holy would Vandy even think about leaving the SEC? Do you know how much more money they make in the SEC?
anyone that thinks they rather take less money to play a weaker schedule and could maybe win a few more games needs to send me you email, i have some property I'd like to sell you.

competively? No, not by much.
But this move is about money and stability. Just 6 months ago, everyone thought the ACC might disband, and now they are likely going to acquire a huge new TV deal.

you still would be left out since ND is not a football member
WTF are you talking about? Did you just completely ignore all the commentary on.how this strengthens the ACC? We are a top 4 or 5 conference and we are at least still in the discussion (winner of ACC) for national.championship games and many bowl games. That is a lot better than the current Big East or the mid tier conferences.

At whatever time the ACC signs a new deal, the money might be close until the next SEC deal is inked.
They would be stark raving mad to leave the SEC.

Smart on ND part playing the ACC they still keep their NBC while being played on espn for road games but the ACC isn't getting a new deal anytime soon. By then there could be more moves to be made in the conference land scape and the 50mil exit fee for ND is chump chang

He just hate the acc since they told west
Va no.
This solidifies the accs future and will make them more money.

If Vandy were to leave, who would the SEC try to add in their place?
I would personally love to see Rice, so all the LSU and A&M fans in Houston would have home games.
But probably Tulane begs back in. And as they were once a charter member they will probably be accepted.

I admittedly do not know the specifics of Vandy's affiliation with the SEC.
On the surface, it seems to worthy of a debate. What does Vandy add to the SEC exactly? (Separate of providing some semblance of academic prestige to the conference).

The ACC just signed one - are we just assuming the addition of ND in this form gives the conference the right to renegotiate? Or has there been a specific contract provision in the new deal that has been brought to light?
Media deals like this have look-in provisions but in some cases they are time dependent and not available for a certain period of time after the date the deal becomes effective.
Anyone know for sure?

5th best and they are not a full member so the ACC can not claim ND, b/c the BE didn't once again they will play one of the top ACC teams once a year then beat up on the rest of the srubs.

With ABC/ESPN, correct? Certainly adding ND gives them marketing power.
NBC will also be involved (and is on board with this move according to twitter); their ND contract is up in 2015 and is currently being renegotiated.

thats what im wondering how are they going to get a new deal after just getting one
This benifits ND way more than the ACC

What does Vandy add to the SEC exactly
Token.
It's that one guy in your fraternity that gets voted in because he has a 4.0 GPA and raises the house average.
Vandy is there to pretend that Southern schools don't build universities for the sole purpose to play football.
Posted on 9/12/12 at 11:20 am to rocket31
The specfics are they are a charter memember.
What they add to the SEC is, the top academic school and they are competitive in most sports, except for football. What they add in football is generally a "rent a win" in conference. While the ACC will likely get new deals, the SEC will still make way more.

try again.

nope. not after the bowl games the SEC schools participate in annually.
and when the SEC signs it's next contract, the margin will be even larger.
Vandy is a charter SEC school and keeps our academic averages competitive. they aren't leaving for the ACC, that's funny tho.
