I'm a student whos in the stadium every game from Callin Baton Rouge till the Alma Mater post game but I really wish I would have left that game. We were up 21-0 in the first quarter and you could tell the players were just going through the motions. Weather was miserable and if i didnt have a chair back I would have left.

Can you name a time when people didn't leave early from the games?

I graduated in 07, and I don't remember as many people leaving at half time as it looks like on TV now. I don't ever remember people leaving early during SEC games. The only time I remember the student section cleaning out was 3rd quarters for rent-a-wins.

I don't know, that's subjective, but possibly now there are MORE leaving now.

I promise you, people have been leaving games early for as long as I have watched football.

There are some people that stay until the very end, each game. And there are some that leave early every game. And then a majority that mixes and matches between the 2. Trust me, these people who remember fondly "the good old days" when no one left early are rewriting history. It's been going on forever.

Just as many people left early in 07, do you not think people left early when we beat Middle Tennessee 44-0, La Tech 58-10. The stadium was half empty at half time for both those games that were in hand by the half.

Games like that are not interesting or fun to watch after they get out of hand. Les isn't Mike Gundy he isn't going to run the score up on some no name team.

Yes it has. It's 2012 and there are more important things going on. Espeacially the younger iPhone generation. It's all about social media and networking these days.

The I-phone generation dont own those coveted seats on the east and west side. Those people dont stay two quarters. They show up halfway through the first and are gone after the second series in the third...

Agree but this needs to be qualified: "then" fans didn't leave early unless it was a blow-out (one way or the other).

In addition to some of the other factors already mentioned, what's changed between "then" and "now" about our in-stadium fandom also includes:
a) We play more games per season and more games vs underwhelming opponents. IOW, the average home game isn't as special as it used to be.
b) TV and technology - used to, you had to be inside Tiger Stadium to see the Tigers play. There were no dishes and viewing capability at tailgates.

For me personally, TS is one of my favorite places on earth. I'm alomst as starry-eyed now as I was as an 8 yr old boy to see my first game. Just savor the moments and if the games gets one-sided it means I get to see some players on the field that I wouldn't otherwise.

Unless you're on the staff or the team, why would the game be more important to you? Don't get me wrong, the game is easily the best part of the day, but as much as I love it, hanging out with my friends and family while doing it, is what makes the experience.

If tailgating is less important than the game at LSU, then who the he%% cares about the game at schools who have no chance of ever competing for BCS?

I have seen very few stadiums as empty as TS was saturday,it looks really bad on tv.

But really -- how many 30 point non-conference blow outs have you watched until the end on TV?

It was cleared out by half time this week --- I stayed until the end... but I don't blame folks for leaving... it was an exceptional week in South LA --- it's a testiment to LSU fans that we had about 80,000 actually enter the stadium to begin with.

We only get 6-8 times a year to go Tiger Stadium. I tell everyone to talk to me before or after the game. I'm not interested in anything else.

DanglingFury proves that the Game is not as important as tailgating to some people. Even the Bears who live for "The Grove" think the game is more important

Yes, and the trend will continue and intensify.

People left early for Va Tech that year, one of the best performances ever by LSU

The kind with a life, responsibilities, and a little perspective. Explain why the game is more important to you?

People in the Grove gave up on the games a long time ago.

The game is awesome, I love it. The game's the most fun part of the day, but part of what makes it so fun is the experience with all of my friends and family.
