I have a small group of friends/co-workers I'm driving to Dallas with for the Bama/Michigan game and we're thinking of staying in Shreveport the Thursday night to break up the drive. Looking for a good restaurant in or close to one of the casinos. What's the best casino/casino hotel for the price and what restaurants would you recommend for a solid dinner? Thanks!!

El Dorado in Shreveport or Horseshoe in Bossier are the best casinos
As far as restaurants:
Blind Tiger or
Noble Savage (if you don't mind a smokey bar atmosphere)
not much downtown...
Not much on the Bossier side either.

Litaliano is on the Bosser side and near the Bossier Casinos. Best Italian food in the NW La. and not expensive. Not open on Sunday. Run by real Italians but they do speak some English. Hole in the wall type place that the tourists don't know about.

Best casino would be Horseshoe.
I don't have first hand knowledge, but from the looks of it I'd say Boomtown would be the cheapest.
As far as eating, in Bossier you've got L'Italiano and Ralph and Kacoo's (although R & K is cool to hate on). Nothing within walking distance.
The Boardwalk is within walking distance of the Horseshoe, although you may not want to.

For staying close to the Casinos:
Noble Savage - Great food, look up there specials for that week on there facebook page.
Texas St. Tavern (Bossier) - Steak house 5 minutes from the river
L'Italiano (Bossier) - For Italian food and 2-3 minutes from the river
Olive St. Bistro (Shreveport) - Italian food 5 minutes from the casinos
On the Shreveport side Noble Savage is the way to go close to the casinos. It can get a little smoky but the food is excellent. The best French Onion soup in town IMO.
Texas St. is my favorite steak house in Shreveport-Bossier.
L'Itliano is a small family run Italian place as is Olive St Bistro. Can't go wrong with either of them.

Thanks for the recs. Are any of these at any of the casinos? Are any of them within easy walking distance of any of the casinos or would we have to hop in the car to get to them. Are there any halfway decent restaurants in any of the casinos? Thanks.

Blind Tiger and Noble Savage are both within easy walking distance of El Dorado
Nothing really within walking distance of Horseshoe.
I've never ate at the casinos, so I can't comment on the casino restaurants.

They are a 5 or so minute drive with the exception of Noble Savage if you were staying at the El Dorado. None of these are at the casinos. IMO the food at the casinos is overpriced for what you get. I've never been all that impressed to be honest.

Very solid list.
Also I'd like to second Lil'Italiano. Ernest's is close to the casinos/downtown as well and is always a good meal. There's also 1800 Prime Steakhouse in Boomtown Casino which I think is better than the steakhouse at Horseshoe.

Indeed, however, I find it to be extremely pricey.

In the late 90's when I worked at the Shreveport airport, Ernests used to get their seafood flown in on the last flight of the night. The guy picking it up would always bring us crab claws to munch on.

I like Binion's inside Horseshoe, but it is kind of pricey.
Outside of the casinos, 2Johns Steakhouse is about 10 minutes north in bossier, but I think it's better than Texas St Tavern.

The food might be a little better, but not by much. It's not good engough for the price difference though IMO (dinner and drinks for my wife and I will run 180 or so at 2 Johns and around 140 or so at Texas St, tip included). Having said that, I'm hitting up 2 Johns tonight and can taste the steak au poivre already.
2Johns has a more formal look/ambiance. If thats your thing 2 Johns is the place. Texas St seems more laid back.

I would stay at either Horseshoe or ElDorado. I used to travel to S'port for work once or twice a month and have stayed at both. The rooms are larger at Horseshoe. If you do not want to leave the casino, I would definitely stay at the Horseshoe and eat at Binion's. If you leave the compound, any of the restaurants mentioned so far are good.
