Public launch under the bridge. Free and not horrible.

Thoughts on Perception Pescador 12 ?
I'm not looking for fancy 800-3000 dollar kayak. Trying to find one used.
Is the Perception Pescador 12 pro that much better? Stadium seat is nice but can a seat just be upgraded to this? What about the striker model?
Mostly pond fishing.
Any other brands worth looking at?
Pelican Enforcer?
Emotion stealth 11?
Field and Stream?
others?

I can tell you I'm perfectly happy with my on sale $399 Field and Stream Eagle Talon. There are certainly nicer kayaks, but for my money and uses, it would be hard to beat. Rigged it out with an anchor trolley, depth finder, crate with extra rod holders, and upgraded the seat.
I took her for a spin Saturday. Unfortunately, the crappie have moved and all I found were stripe (white bass to some folks).

Craw is this your first Yak? If so I highly recommend you demo different ones first.
With so many different body types and different fishing situations it's almost impossible to recommend one
Without a list of how and what your plans are for it.
If you call Pack & Paddle you can pick out different boats and they'll bring them (no charge) and then you can just go test and see which one fits best for you before you spend any money
With that said i haven't seen any PP12 on the water or read any reviews on that rig, looked at one at Academy
Lay out looks and storage but didnt care for the mounting of the pedal assembly, looked cheaply done

Not interested In testing out much. I've fished pirogues my whole life and this will be a upgrade. Pond fishing. Places boat and motor won't go. Quick trips Toss and go after work. Weekend mornings. Not packin all day excursions.

Okay got ya
List would be...
light weight
sit on top
12'
Thats almost every yak out there
But really don't really think you need anything with pedals so that'll save you money but definitely recommend you get a good paddle. The Field & Stream boat has fantastic reviews so can't go wrong there, not sure of its weight also got a buddy that has the vibe "sea ghost" 130 boat super staple and amazingly fast, best of both worlds
Id add the Acsend fs12 to the list, it was my 1st boat and nothing but good to say about it
Its a bit heavy but manageable for one person
Im sure the others will add their recommendations
Good luck and welcome to the club!

I started with a Pescador 12. It was good little kayak. Light, paddles very well, and fairly stable. But I wanted more out of my kayak than what I could do with it. If you won’t be spending a lot of time in it it’ll be just fine. I spend long hours in my kayak, so I needed some more elbow room and the ability to easily stand. Just depends what you need.

I rented one when I went fishing on our vacation in Destin last summer. I enjoyed fishing it but I only stayed on the water a few hours at a time. They track well and are are really stable but it seemed really heavy when I was loading and unloading it. It could also seem that way because I was dragging it a 1/4 mile through sand. The old seat in it was terrible so make sure its a 2014 or newer. That stadium style seat makes a world of difference.

I do like the open area compared to center console. Room for tackle and standing up. High stadium seat too. Emotion pro layout for example

Thankfully, there was some open water I could skate/wade out to launch.

It’s gone be a cold mother fricker

Yea I have zero hope for this at all, my cold water fishing can use some work. I'm trying to rent a Cruise FD for this one though since it's on my list of potential upgrades so I'm atleast looking forward to testing one out for a day.

Y’all ever slept at Moran’s? $89 for 2 queen beds isn’t too bad. Quick access to restaurant and bar too.

Moran's is a million times nicer than Boudreax's. Rooms are bigger and you have the restaurant, bar, and convenience store all on location. The biggest con is that you can't really yak fish from there. You have to drive and launch somewhere else because of the bird sanctuary.
