The fact that he's average has caught up to him. He came out of nowhere. Now that he's been thoroughly scouted he comes back down.
It would be a horrendous deal.
I'm starting to fear Dell makes a move down just to make a deal. Just stay at 10. Have patience Dell.

I've always hated the logic of "theres 4 or 5 guys I wouldn't mind having with this pick, let's trade down and hope one of the 4/5 falls to us" crap.
I'd rather the pick of the litter than the leftovers.

I disagree strongly with that.
I know going off of stats isn't the end all/be all be here's how they are compared from last season
DC: Minutes: 31.3, FG: 44%. Assists: 4.8, Points: 10.4
GV: Minutes: 25.8, FG: 43%, Assists 5.4, Points 8.9

The link shows the value of each pick by taking previous drafts and determining the percentage on how effective the drafted player will be.

pretty cool chart if I'm reading that right does that mean the statically the #10 pick generates about as much success as the #6 pick does?
so your saying dell planned this all along.....

Everyone on here was on Collison's jock when we traded him
There were people who spoke out against the idiots saying DC would be an above average starting PG. I've said it before, I don't hate Collison and would accept him as filler in a deal, but I don't think he's worth trading for when we have both Jack and Vasquez on the roster. I didn't even think he was worth trading for when all we had was Jack.

#10 pick for Darren Collison and #26 pick from Indy. Thoughts.
I'm intrigued

Do not want. Collison has shown his ceiling and it's just not that high. He's a solid player, but not worthy of the 10th pick. And trying to sweeten it with the 26th pick does very little to improve the deal. I just think there are better PGs than DC available at 10.

This is the crap shoot. I know what DC can do, and I think he would fit in nicely with what the Hornets already have. I have no clue how one of these rook PGs may pan out. I would strongly consider a trade for DC.

He was a backup on a middling Eastern Conference playoff squad.

frick no.
Collison is on the way out in Indy, as they need a better point to take them to the ECF, so why eat a 16-spot drop in the draft for him?

I really don't see collison as much of an upgrade from Vasquez.

Their numbers are pretty similar, but Collison had the advantage of playing on a playoff team while Vasquez was playing for a walking MASH unit.
Put a healthy Gordon and Davis around Vasquez and I figure his numbers will equal or exceed Collison's with Indiana.

And a big Vasquez is a better defensive fit with a small Gordon. Trying to pair Gordon with Collison gives you a very small backcourt.

yeah, not only height wise but just strength and girth... collison is a tiny point.

I'm a big supporter of Vazquez which makes going after a PG not as important to me. But I still think DC is better.
Having said that, my preference is to keep the pick, draft T Jones and hope like hell Vazquez can truly be a legit starting PG.

DC is definitely better I think
Indy isn't the place for him. And he's still only 24, I don't think he's done getting better. He's shown flashes of being a good PG

What do those hit like 20% of the time? I think the 10 pick in this draft would hit like 80% of the time
Nothing statistical to back this up, but I think the percentage differences would be a lot closer, and I also think the #10 pick hitting would be closer to 20% than 80%.
After the top 5, it's a crapshoot IMO.
I know it'd probably be better to do a range, like maybe 8th through 12th, but I don't feel like doing that much research lol.
Here are the 10th overall picks going back to 1980:

Just off of a quick eye test, I'd say less than half were hits.
