Sitcoms from 1999-2004 (the period b/w Seinfeld and The Office)

Seinfeld ended in 1998, The Office debuted in 2005. I went back to look at what sitcoms were on TV for those 5 years between these two eras. Here's a list of most of the popular sitcoms during that period, I'm sure I left off a few that should be noted:
Friends - Never a big fan of this show, especially when it was well past its peak in the 2000's.
Frasier - Boooooring.
Everybody Loves Raymond - Booooooring.
Dharma and Greg - Stupid
Becker - Boooooring
Drew Carey Show - Not a fan but I don't mind it.
Spin City - Never got into it.
King of Queens - Decent show that I can enjoy every once in a while.
Will and Grace - Dumb.
Two and a Half Men - Overrated
That 70's Show - Pretty good series, but it's not even close to being Seinfeld/Office funny.
Seinfeld was brilliant comedy in the 90's, and when it went off the air it left a hugge void. After reviewing these shows, I'm much more thankful for The Office and the golden age of sitcoms that have followed after it (Parks and Rec, Community, 30 Rock, Modern Family...). Just imagine if sitcoms continued on the downward trend after Seinfeld and how shitty TV would be today.
Do yall think we're going to be entering another downward trend soon, or is the golden age of sitcoms here to stay?

Recast carrie and this show could have been amazing. Kevin james is the man.

I really liked Spin City before Charlie Sheen got there.

I liked Two Guys, A Girl, and a Pizza Place, but I guess it wasn't that popular.

So because you didnt like any sitcoms during that period and none of then compared to Seinfield, it was a "down period" for them?

There was Sport's Night during that period, which was great, but I am not sure if it really counts as a sitcom.

So Frasier was not funny, but you think 30 Rocl is funny. smh
BTW The Office is way overrated.

It definitely declined towards the end, but this was a great show at the time. The rewatchability isn't all that, but when it was live it was must see TV.

Absolutely not. I watch it every night. Show won a ton of awards.

Show is hilarious.

Will and Grace - Dumb.
I don't make a point to tune in but it's pretty funny sometimes.

Who said it was? It's a funny show, why does it have to be compared to other funny shows?
Here's your problem. You've taken the greatest sitcom EVER, of ALL TIME, and basically picked out the shows that came after it and said "well they aren't as good as seinfeld so this era must suck". Just because they aren't seinfeld doesn't mean they aren't good shows.

agree with most, but:
Fraiser was funny!
Drew Carey sucked unless it was a scene with Diedrich Bader and/or Ryan Stiles.
Spin was good with MJF.
King of Queens was almost as good, i thought, til Carrie got fat, then her jokes about Doug being fat had no more merit.
the rest i pretty much agree with, but... Arrested Development was just as good.
and you could argue Curb your Enthusiasm if its considered a sit-com.

Never watched any of those shows but what was the one with David spade and he worked as a secretary at the magazine company? I can't believe I'm drawing a blank but I loved that show.
I take that original comment back. I ain't gonna lie I did like friends. I never watched it weekly but I did watch reruns. I don't watch much tv while it's new.

Much better when Micheal J Fox was on the show

Never watched any of them. Dharma was kind of hot, though.

So what would be a good analogy in sports terms? I think the NBA's Eastern Conference in basketball during the early 2000s is a good comparison. Seinfeld = Jordan. Both retired in 1998 at the height of their popularity. At least Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld had the good sense not to come back far past their prime like Jordan did later on with the Wizards. After Jordan left, there was a void in the Eastern Conference with no elite teams and it took a while for the Eastern Conference to build itself back into a solid conference.

Frasier - I loved the show
Everybody Loves Raymond - Only see and handful of episodes but was always good
Dharma and Greg - Had it's moments but not a huge fan
Becker - Didn't see enough to form an opinion
Drew Carey Show - Didn't watch weekly but I loved it when I did.
Spin City - Great show while MJF was on there.
King of Queens - Never watched despite many friends and my brother saying it was their favorite show on TV.
Will and Grace - Good show that at times was stellar but it suffered from a lack of consistency.
Two and a Half Men - Never watched.
That 70's Show - Never watched.

Friends-Couldn't watch because of Ross.
Dharma and Greg-never watched more than three minutes of it.
Becker -Never watched.
Drew Carey Show -never watched
Spin City -watchable with Fox
Raymond-didn't really like it.
Two & a half Men_was good to have on in the background for eye candy
Frasier-Good to me from the dad's perspective. Always am thinking about him being bewildered by how none of the "life lessons" he tried to impart on them "took". I really loved all of the characters on it. They all worked really well together.
King of Queens - good regular guy show, he and his co-worker friend were as close as it gets to a modern day Ralph & Norton. I enjoyed KJ's character always F'ing up with the wife.
That 70's Show-I never saw it until I watched it in syndication but I loved seeing it when I gave it a chance.
Not a big fan of The Office. Tried to watch it when it first came out. Didn't like the having a F'UP for a boss scenario. I've had one or two of them IRL so watching him be a bad boss was never funny to me. Don't really like the guy's movies either.
