Yeah, watching the replay, i just noticed that Harper whiffed on a tackle of Davis at the 40 on that last drive. Davis is a beast, but the tackle should have been made.
Not to mention them colliding into each other on the first Davis TD and letting him walk into the endzone.

Those two were a clown show in that game

If the Saints win that game, does the Jimmy Graham TD catch go down as the second greatest play in team history, only behind the Porter pick-six?
I was thinking the same thing dude. It was an awesome play for sure that know one will talk about.

first thing i said was "holy frick, we just won. there's no way Alex fricking Smith can lead them back"

I shot off an artillery shell outside, started celebrating early and almost missed the last play..

. Why the frick were we not in prevent???

Damn, any kid who has played Madden could have set up a better D.

I figured Akers would end up tying the game with a semi-long field goal and we'd be sitting pretty with the new OT rules.

Drew was rolling so if we won the toss there's no doubt in my mind we get a TD. If we lose the toss, just hold them to a FG then let Brees drive for a TD.

That's what I was thinking.

The saints/49ers preseason game? Because I've blocked any other possible game this year from memory.

Why are you doing that to yourself?

On a side note. From what I remember from the game, Roman Harper should not be covering TE's that has even one drop of athelticism at all. It's like kryptonite to him. Davis abused him all day long. He should stick to stopping the run. He's a good safety with decent run stopping skills, horrible pass defending ball skills. He's notorious for completely whiffing on tackles in the open field.

One more thing, Why the frick was Shanle and Harper covering davis? That's like letting your 7 year old kid drive the entire family in Baton Rouge traffic.

Not surprisingly we crashed and burned.

it's a shame that amazing play will be overshadowing by a defensive breakdown
Out of curiosity, what was so amazing about it? Donte Whitner COMPLETELY whiffed making the tackle. Whitner even had the better angle than Harper did on his miss of Davis and blew it. He totally botched it and allowed Graham to walk in. 40 free yards.

I mean Brees put it on the money, but amazing? Whoah now. Exciting? Sure.

Both teams made great plays and both teams made dumb mistakes. In the end, the 49ers just had the one last big play left in them.

Could not do it, I tried, but started biting my nails like I was watching it live and then thought, we still won't win it.

A guy I work with said yesterday that he and his son watched the game about an 1 behind on his DVR. He could hear fireworks going off in his neighborhood, he thought, my God, we came back and won this game, Said he fell to the ground and just about cried at the outcome.

Will never watch again. It even hurts still to see the promos for "Giants at Niners" now, knowing we would have hosted the title game.

I remember there being 40 seconds left, sf looking all out of sorts, and we kept blitzing for no good reason. I thought, no damn way does Alex Smith take them down the field for a TD. Even when they got within striking distance, I thought - Fg ties it. They had such a little chance for a TD.

You know the rest.
