Don't think Bower would come back if they begged him to. Je is retired and living on the Gulf Coast.

Yeah, Bower is done.
What about Ron Zook? The problem with the Southern Miss job is that the salary is balls. After four winning seasons, Fedora was still only making around $700K.

For comparison’s sake….when Jeff Bower was let go, he was making half that amount - $349,983.00

If Gus turned down Vandy and Ole Miss I doubt he is interested in Southern Miss.
Southern Miss is a better job than Ole Miss and Vandy if you want to advance your head coaching career...

Did Ole Miss even offer Gus the HC job?
And, I just don't see why in the world Gus would take a HC job at So.Miss when he would have to take almost a 50% pay cut. AU is paying him +$1.3mm right now, aren't they?

1. You have to have college HC experience somewhere if you want to advance further than being OC.
The number of schools willing to pay him Auburn money to be HC is pretty small.
2. If 2010 proves to be a fluke and that Auburn remains a 7-win / 8-win squad most seasons, he'll be out of a job within a year or two because Bobby Lowder won't accept being mediocre when Bama is in the BCS CG and will insist that Chizik's staff be turned over.

I wonder if he's second guessed that decision a time or two since last season?

Seriously though, I've seen his name on some "lists", but I haven't seen him get a actual offer thus far this year. And, there are a ton of HC jobs open right now.....

Most offers are being done verbally or in a "feeler" manner now days. It helps the schools save face which is great for schools like Ole Miss and aTm, they get to say they "got their guy" instead of having to settle after being publicly turned down by several coaches...

Yall's OC Garrick McGee would have been an IDEAL hire for Southern Miss, too bad he is at that DUMP that is UAB. Best case there is a 6-6 season. Southern Miss can consistantly win 8 to 11 games IMO.
