Dang man, U still mad?

Spitting that venom, like it's personal.

Interested in what went down to make you pop up with the hate Tulane stuff. Not picking on you but it seems you have a deep hate going on there when others just laugh it off and take the occasional dig at Tulane. Just wondering I guess.

I would pay money to see the look on the neighbors' faces if this was ever proposed.

Ok, where there is smoke... Tuberville says he wants Tulane if they expand to 12.

interesting - tubbs like SDSU and Tulane for the Big 12 because they represent destination cities for the fans/other teams

I'm not sure that makes sense really. Unless those teams can generate the revenue to justify splitting the pot more ways

Would seem like a good thing for Tulane or SDSU tho

seems like he just throws it out there

I could see Tulane working as a # 12

but IMO the university would have to convince the Big 12 that they would invest in athletics and football specifically

No surprise that Tuberville would want to get back to recruiting this area. He probably still has a few contacts and would love to stick it to an SEC school or two by snagging a recruit from their backyard.

lots of complaints on Texas board about WVU: fan base, poor academics and a traveling nightmare. sited LSU fans that were hospitalized after their loss.

yeah Hornie fans not happy

Tulane could end up being a olive branch (ie Texas gets what they want) to appease, road trip champ game kinda thing

Never thought of the Mack Brown angle either

Funny comments on Texas board: "we might be country, but they're Fuk'n inbreds up there."

Academics - SD State is crap, but Tulane is highly ranked.

Athletics - SD State is a recovering program but at least a somewhat viable one. Tulane's been dead since Tommy Bowden left for Clemson.

Market - New Orleans is a Top 50 market, but San Diego is a Top 10 market.

Recruiting - Louisiana is a recruiting hotbed, producing the most NFL players per-capita outside of Samoa. California produces the highest gross number of NFL players of any state.

Frankly, of the two, SD State is probably an easier sell to the conference at large than Tulane because they've got a better program and getting a crack at recruiting California would make most coaches' mouths water.

dunno, for OU and Texas I think they could land some Cali kids - but I find it hard to believe many would visit Texas Tech or Baylor and decide that was the place for them

The recruiting thing is definitely an issue but the distance between California and the rest of the Big 12 would make that recruiting a lot less successful IMO

There's no way the Big XII adds a school that makes their footprint stretch from San Diego to Morgantown, WV. People were griping at the prospect of going from Colorado (Air Force) to Louisville, and they wanted the Big XII to pick a direction. They seem to have done that, possibly coupled with AFA and BYU rebuffing advances. WV is the Mizzou replacement or #11 if Mizzou stays, with Louisville and Cinci as candidates for expansion from 10 to 12 or possibly adding just one of them if Mizzou stays to go from 11 to 12. Personally, I think WV only got invited because Mizzou is gone, so I think we add Louisville and Cinci and sit at XII having added an East wing of the conference.

I will never settle on the current state that we are in just as you would never settle for the LSU of the 80's. Tulane has potential to be Ole Miss, Arizona St, North Carolina, etc. Can we be LSU, Alabama, etc... I wish, but I am realistic.

That being said, no, there is room in our state for another BCS school.

I hope the Big XII holds at 10 and tells Tulane and someone else to get their shite together and they are in. In Tulane's case: make a big hire at coach, agree to drop 40-50M on athletics per year, get a stadium figured out or at least show you can get butts in seats at the dome, and meet a few other metrics and you're in. If you want a seat at the big boy's table, show that you're willing to do what it takes for it. If not, enjoy being left out of the 5 BCS conferences, probably forever.

Your scenario is what I believe happened. Texas called, we showed interest, they then told us what they would accept and whatwe needed to do. Here we are and so far Tulane is stepping up. Apparently our ad met with Rich Rodriguez today.

Wow, is there any evidence to that? I know he got his start at Tulane. A lot of WV people think he's holding out for Arizona or UGA. That would be a huge steal for you.

There are plans that have been drawn up that would allow a stadium of 40 - 45K. It would have to be shoe-horned in, but it can be done.
