Heading there this weekend. What places are good and close to downtown because we are without a car?

MikedaTigah just had a crisis.

There are some Korean/Mexican taco places I ran across the last time I was in Austin near 6th. I couldn't tell you the name or exact location though.

Many of the trucks are on S. Congress (South of downtown). Cab it, or seriously check out www.car2go/Austin.com

Well we are rolling with 15-20 people which makes taxis difficult.

There are a bunch and it's a great walking city in that area.

I had a buffalo grilled shrimp po boy at Turf and Turf a couple weeks ago after the UT BYU game.

Except for calling it a po boy it was a great sandwich.

Catch a rickshaw to ride in. Cheap.

South Austin Trailer Park and Eatery
1311 S 1st St

There are quite a few food trucks there with picnic tables.

I always get the fried avocado tacos from Torchy's.

Take a cab to BarleySwine. Best new-ish restaurant in Austin. For pizza on 6th street, after a night of drinking, my favorites are Jack's (attached to the Jackalope) and Hoeke's death metal pizza. The best burgers are at Hut's on west 6th (get the chipotle mayo), and Casino el Camino on east 6th. Best tapas downtown are at Malagas on 2nd.

You can walk across the Congress St. bridge to the S. Congress food trucks. Bout a 20 minute walk. There are a few bars on S. Congress if you need to rehydrate.

Kebabalicious!

There are trucks on 2nd & Congress and 7th & something...

Also, the taco truck outside of Lustre Pearl on Rainey Street has probably the best tacos in town.
