If 4 16 team conferences are formed, what happens to the BCS? Is the BCS contract still valid?
I do think we have to go to a plus 1 at the least and there is no way the conferences let Notre Dame or a independent Texas into the new system.

BCS dies, ND and all other independents have to join a superconference to get in (Army and Navy get left out), we go to a 4 team playoff not a plus 1

I think it will be more than 4 teams. It's gonna be more like NFL!

I hope not. Otherwise bye bye College Football Regular Season meaning so much. Hello Alabama resting their starters in the Iron Bowl because they have already clinched a playoff spot.

If the 4 teams are conf champs then by def it is at least 8 due to the CCGs.

That's not really a good thing if you love college football.

CFB regular season is meaningful? Division I-A is the only sport in the country where you can run the table and not be allowed to play for the championship. That is the very definition of meaningless.

That's why it pays to play as well as possible during every REGULAR SEASON game.

ND will never join a conference even if they super conference thing pans out. They recruit from everywhere already and make sinful amounts of money. They have a contract with NBC until 2015 I think

Put teams like ND and Texas in the unrealistic sense of entitlement conference. They can stroke each others ego.

I just got an interesting email. This person has a family member who is well connected. The Big 10 is looking to add 4 and go to 16: Texas, ND, FSU, Miami.

no way Texas goes independent. They have how many other sports that would need a home? 20 or 30-something?

not likely to happen.

What is unrealistic about it? They actually get what they are entitled to. If you were able to get more than everyone else you turn it down because?

It's been about a generation since the last time they were a major power on a year-to-year basis, which would be around the last few years of Lou Holtz.

Bob Davie and Cholly Weis have had them relevant for short periods of time, Davie just after Holtz turned over the team and Weis when he had Quinn and the other upperclassmen from the Willingham years, but those periods of success were far from sustained.

Texas--yeah right
ND--sure
FSU--good luck poaching the ACC
Miami--given their problems, the ACC may let them leave and grab UCF or USF as a replacement
