Waiving the buyout as a sticking point for Mich, is only acceptable if LSU lands one of Patterson, Petersen, Mullen, Malzahn, Ferentz, Gruden, Strong, Sarkisian, etc..

athletics isn't hurting for money. the academic side has always taken money. people still have money around here and the LSU athletic fund isn't going to dry up over 1.25m esp spread out over what would be 5 years

They're taking more than they previously did to subsidize their own cuts, which are far worse than anything they've realized in forever.

He says so many "rumors" that he can never truly be wrong because he can just say that his "sources" were wrong. Certainly these guys talk to people but can't imagine athletic dept people are calling Joe and tell him shite.

So Joe wants to charge money to park way the frick, but he's going to turn down a cool 1.5mil? Naw that doesn't add up.

He was just on ESPNEWS and stated sources from the Miles camp said it would be extremely difficult to say no to Mich IF they offered, and sources from LSU are the ones leaking that LSU would waive the buyout.

Be realistic. If Alleva has gotten Patterson or Fisher to commit to coming to LSU, I'd be okay with it, but I just think the two of them are drastic long shots.

I agree, and they are the only two I am really excited about.

Is it your feeling that Miles is UM top choice? Do you think the fans want him, or kinda meh?

No it doesn't add up at all why would anyone think that we're just taking the buyout off the table for no reason unless we were incentivized to do it?

The sting of losing Miles would be greatly lessened if one of those two, preferably Patterson, were named head coach.

Pat Henry would hold LSU's Ath-Dept's feet to the fire over what 1.5M sprinkled over many a year's T&F HC salary could bring in terms of Natty Title hardware to LSU..or in repair bills at Maddox.

this is meant for the new contract, not the current one.

That would be the only rational explination unless Aleva just wants him gone.

Pat Henry could win every NC in T&F for eternity and it would still be a sport that netted the university negative dollars.

The only logical reason to waive the buyout would be that there has been some other deal agreed to by the parties involved therein: (1) LSU, (2) UM, (3) Miles, and (4) a fourth party that would necessarily have to be another coach for LSU...the carrot at the end of the stick for LSU to agree to waive the buyout...even if they want him gone.

With Miles sharing agents with Patterson, maybe...

I have heard for several years that LSU is the only other job Patterson would seriously consider...we will know soon enough.

Perhaps we got our man and dont want any sticking points.

Patterson gave me a boner when he started talking about leverage before the Rose Bowl.
