Is the central role to the entire movie.

was annoying but she played the part very well.

She is likely to be nominated for an Oscar. The youngest since Tatum Oneal and Anna Paquin. She is going to be a great actress.

I was very disappointed with this movie.

I know it's the Coens but imo they should have taken a more NCFOM route in the sense that it should have been more dramatic, dark, and intense. I also thought the film drug on too much while they were searching for Brolin and imo it had a weak endidng when it came to the showdown. Brolin, Pepper, and the rest of the crew had very little face time. Instead of wasting time on Bridges shooting at a whisky bottle, they should have shown us more on Pepper's crew and given us an idea of just how dangerous these guys were and what they were all about.

I also didn't like that they spent 30% of the movie just showing us the girl negotiating with the dude at the beginning. That went on too long. And what was with the scene where the dude had the bear skin on? I thought that was boring as sh!t and was another example of wasted time.

That said, Steinfeld OWNED this movie. She was brilliant and stole the show. Bridges was good, Damon was decent, and Brolin wasn't on the movie long enough to get a grade.

Went and saw the movie today. It's was pretty good. It's hard to fully enjoy when I grew up watching the original one and reading the book.

I don't understand why critics say it followed the book much closer than first one. The new one changed the story line on several occasions. The only true change in the original was the very ending with Mattie losing her arm and not ever seeing Rooster again.

Anyway, the young actress was great, probably did the best job of all.

I just got back from seeing it, and I have to say, I loved it. I think they did a good job keeping the movie light and humorous and that made it seem real to me.

I think the acting was top notch as well as the cinematography. I'm very glad I saw it in the theaters.

I thought it was pretty good. The dialog between Damon and Bridges was hilarious. I thought Damon did a great job and he was probably my favorite character. Bridges was great too of course.

I agree that it could have been a bit longer and needed some more development of the enemies (brolin).

It started at 3:00 and had around 5mins of previews and it ended around 4:45. Runtime is around 1hr 45mins. Too short imo.

Completely disagree. I love the fact that I got to watch my favorite genre... And laugh. Just because it's a western it needs to be dark and drama filled? Not at all. I love the route they took and that they continue to make good movies that are outside the run if the mill (insert any genre) films.

So they wasted time focusing on an important aspect of one of the three main characters? The film wasn't about Barry Pepper and Josh Brolin. I could have cared less if the search was 120 minutes and the final battle was two minutes. The search is what made the movie. Mattie Ross' vengeance was all that matter, not how long it took for them to show it.

Possibly my favorite scene in the movie. "I don't care if that's a winged pegassus I ain't paying $325 for that horse."

Apparantly we disagree on quite a bit with this movie.

The search is very important, but I would like to know more about the people that they are searching for. We only saw these guys for about 5-10 minutes and that's it. I guess you think that NCFOM should have just followed Tommy Lee Jones around while he's investigating all of the crime scenes but not reveal Chigurh until the very end and only for five minutes.

Jeff Bridges shooting at a whisky bottle and cornbread for five minutes is pointless. Also didn't like the convo with the dude in the bear skin. If you're gonna include stuff like that, at least extend the movie and show something on their enemies. Same goes for the beginning where it took nearly 25 minutes just for Ross to finalize the negotiations. That was about 20-25% of the whole movie. I wanted to see more scenes like the cabin and when Damon gets caught and Bridges shoots those guys down. Intense stuff.

Again, it's fine to include some of the scene I didn't like....as long as it's long enough to include some scenes with the enemies and a few more intense scenes. Too short of a movie and filled with too many scenes that could have been replaced.

Still, it's a good movie. B or B+.

This wasn't no country for old men. It doesn't make sense to compare the two, they have absolutely nothing in common other than having the same directors. One was a crime drama and the other was a western slash semi-comedy. Chigurh was one of the three main characters of NCFOM, of course they spent time on him. The trio in True Grit could have never found the bad guys and it would have made for a very entertaining movie; you can't say the same for NCFOM minus Bardem.

I mean it's Friday night and I've had some beers, but I'm either drunk or you have an EXTREMELY exaggerated time scale. Really? The negotiations were %20-25 of the movie? Ok. No.
And again. I think you are not viewing the movie enough as a dramatic comedy. Emphasis on comedy. The scene with the bear guy was solely to be odd and funny in a ridiculous manner. No need to extend the movie because they put in a scene that went along with part of the theme of the entire movie.

Saw it tonight, I was laughing out loud at a bunch of stuff...especially Rooster and Lebeef going back and forth. Trying to think of some of the good lines...

I'm gonna have to re-watch it, especially since I know that the movie really stresses comedy. Guess I was expecting more drama than it actually contained.

I may have to agree with this one. Steinfeld was a fantastic actress in this, and I have to say that I may have enjoyed Jeff Bridges interpretation of Rooster Cogburn more than John Wayne's.

3.5 stars out of four

Probably because the original is extremely overrated and just not that great of a movie.
