Has anyone seen/even heard of Eternal Sunshine in the Spotless Mind? I hate Jim carrey and I honestly wasn't excited to see it. Jim carrey kinda irks me. However, I thought it was pretty good and wanted to make sure you guys know about it cause it's definitely an indie flick if you know what I mean. Idk if you'll like it cause it's kinda underground. ;)

P.s. anyone wanna try and explain what happened in the end not reedy sure if it was all still in his mind or something. (I'm pretty sure they won't end up together anyways even if it was real life)

P.s.s. Elijah wood FTW

If you consider yourself a serious movie watcher please go check out Holy Motors. #3 on my list but my #1 most recommended

Considering how good this year was, I really don't think leaving Lincoln off the list is very silly.

And as for the hobbit, I just wasn't a fan

Pretty bad list. I've only seen one of those, moonrise kingdom, and it was dreadfully awful. 5 others I've never heard of. Only would want to see Argo, looper, and the master.

You can't say it's a bad list if you've only seen one. I think if you gave some of them a chance you'd understand.

Has Lincoln not made anyone's Top 10 list yet?. . . I mean, it wasn't as great to me as some people made it out to be, but I'd still say it belongs in the Top 10 movies of the year. Easily.

I saw Lincoln and thought it was good but it's nowhere near my top 10. I'll probably see it again sometime. Same goes for life of pi.

The hobbit is way too long because it didn't have to be. LOTR trilogy needed that runtime.

The hobbit was way too long and suprispingly enogh I didn't even feel like I watched a full movie. This trilogy idea is just a huge cash grab.

Just my guess. Mainly bc you've openly admitted on here that you've pretended to like movies you haven't seen. A few of these were movies that were limited release and hard to catch in theatres. Plus this is a critics "no popcorn movie allowed" list not a 16-17 year olds list.

I never openly admitted to liking movies I've never seen. I haven't posted on this board in quite some time so it a but weird you would say that anyways

All of these movies were at a theater nearby except for Amour, which I had to torrent online.

It was fantastic. I think a lot of people would agree with me on that one

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you've probably only seen 4-5 of these. [/quote]

No I've seen them all. Not sure why I would lie about that haha

not gonna get my hopes up but if they can pull this off it could be an epic masterpiece. i assume the final product will be messy and a bit incoherent, but i will definitely be first in line.
for a start, they're editing the gangster squad theater shoot-out scene. for obvious reasons, though

the film has a 96% on rottentomatoes currently (25 fresh, 1 rotten) with an average rating of 9/10

here are some review excerpts

TIME MAGAZINE

quote:

For once a melodrama with pulp origins convinces viewers that it can be the modern equivalent to Greek myths or a Jonathan Swift satire. TDKR is that big, that bitter -- a film of grand ambitions and epic achievement.

DAILY TELEGRAPH

quote:

After a breathless, bravura final act, a nuclear payload of catharsis brings The Dark Knight Rises, and Nolan's trilogy, to a ferociously satisfying close.

TOTAL FILM

quote:

A smart, stirring spectacle that faces down impossible expectations to pull off a hugely satisfying end to business.

MOVIE CITY NEWS

quote:

The Dark Knight Rises is the movie a filmmaker makes after they have earned the freedom to break the mold and to reach for something bigger than the franchise.

HOLLYWOOD REPORTER

quote:

Big-time Hollywood filmmaking at its most massively accomplished, this last installment of Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy makes everything in the rival Marvel universe look thoroughly silly and childish.

ROLLING STONE

quote:

Potent and provocative, The Dark Knight Rises is the King Daddy of summer movie epics.

DIGITAL SPY

quote:

The Dark Knight Rises is intelligent, heart-pounding spectacle cinema that grips like a vice from minute one and won't let go.

EMPIRE MAGAZINE

quote:

A fitting epitaph for the hero Gotham deserves.

And for those who are interested in what the one negative critic said...

quote:

At times, the action is so massive and thunderously clunky that I might as well have been watching one of the Transformers movies.
i enjoyed it a good deal and just had fun with it. fight scenes were surprisingly fantastic and andrew garfield nailed the role.
Charlie Kaufman? he has only DIRECTED one film and he has a new one coming next year
quote:

I'm excited about this movie but I don't expect it to be the sci-fi movie of the decade or even the year. That hope and expectation goes to Gravity and it is my pick to be the next face melting sci-fi worthy of Kubrick's praise. I read that it opens with a single 16-minute take. JIMP.

delayed to 2013. :banghead:

Question about Blade Runner

Posted by drewhowie on 5/28/12 at 7:18 pm
A year ago i watched blade runner on the netflix intant queue. i didn't enjoy it all that much but i was told that the director's cut is far superior. Does anyone remember if that version on netflix was the director's cut? Also, what is the board's opinion on the two different versions?
