People seem to forget that our NC run will be next year. we only have 9 scholarship sr on the roster so assuming we finish 10-2 this year with only returning 10 staters then the next 2 years could put us in "elite" status again...By the way, we are still in the hunt to win the west!

I'm starting to believe that Les is a good 9-3 coach, maybe 10-2, but I just can't see beyond 2011 and - let's face it - we've got JJ and JL back again, unless Mettenberger can beat them out. It does not give me a lot of hope for a return to Atlanta, unless for the Chicken Samich Bowl.

Yes, and that makes Saban change up everything that got him there.

Bama fans PISS excellence.

"I'd rather go 0-12, 0-12, 14-0 than 10-2, 10-2, 10-2."

Not only do I disagree with this, I seriously doubt that the OP would stand for it. Who would not want an LSU coach fired for going 0-12? An LSU coach actually should be fired for going 0-12. In general, the way you win NC's is you have very good teams very often, but even doing that, you only rarely win the NC. Texas - since 1969 - has ONE. Bama - since 1979 - has two. Spurrier was excellent almost every year at UF and he won ONE. The media absolutely swooned for a decade over Pete Carroll at USC. He won 1 BCS title. I have my issues with Miles, but I am not going to turn my nose up at 10-2 seasons. Hell, even Saban only had one season at LSU that was better than 10-2.

This is the dumbest thing ever said

Texas is an elite program when is their last NC.

Ohio State is an elite program when is their last NC.

USC is an elite program when is their last NC.

Success is when you play up to your potential.

2008 team did not play up to theirs.

2009 team won what they should have except the Ole Miss game, although they never really "played well"

2010 team has won, but has not played up to their potential.

Point being if the team plays up to their potential, then success or failure is not really found in the win and loss column.

They went undefeated in the best conference in the country....doing that 2 years in a row is almost impossible in the sec today.

Considering we have won 2 in the last 7 years I feel extremely fortunate they accomplished what they have......definitely spoils the fanbase and fans view every mis step under a microscope. It isn't as enjoyable to watch them with the expectations we well I put on them.

I agree 100%. Take note of those who don't. They are the real problem with the fanbase and why LSU has always settled for mediocrity.

Lets be realistic.....settling for a mediocre season isnt what any fan wants......but there is a big difference between delusional and realistic fans.....thinking that every year we will win the NC is delusional...hell thinking that we will win the sec every year is delusional.....i think every fan goes into a season hoping for a NC, SEC Championship

I agree, we should just bitch and moan until the athletic department is aware that we arent having any fun and we will not accept 1 or 2 losses if they don't result in a national championship.

I know what will show them! We should all switch to auburn fans until they suck again. Then we hop on another bandwagon.

After all, we buy tickets and t shirts therefore we are just as important as the coaches and players who work year round!

Lsu should compete for the west every year. There are at least 4 teams each year that compete. Lsu should be in that number. But with Les in years to come i doubt it.

no coach in the history of college football has a team that is in the national championship every year. not ari parsegian (sp), not bear bryant, not bobby bowden, not jimmy johnson, NO COACH. your post is ridiculous. you would have us firing a coach every other yr or so and would bankrupt the taf while NO coach would even consider coming here.

If we really want to be an elite program, we gotta stop with this "I'll be happy to win 10 games" attitude. This is the attitude that programs like Arkansas, SCar, Ole Miss, and Kentucky have. Those teams will never be elite and their fans know it.

I mean, look at Bama. They've only lost 1 regular season game the last two years, and they want to bench their starting QB. Some say it is crazy for them to think that, but the reality is that they are not content to just continue the way they are going (which is pretty damn good). Bama fans will consider this season a failure unless they win the NC. LSU fans should as well.

People say that firing Miles will cause us to have a couple of bad seasons. So what? I'd rather go 0-12, 0-12, 14-0 than 10-2, 10-2, 10-2. If Les does not give us a good shot at the NC every year, he has to go. Period.

Using your logic, there doesn't exist a successful program.

So, LSU has only been successful 3 times in a 100+ years?

I swear, some of you guys do crack me up.

look, setting your sights high is great and everything, but people are more upset with how the team has looked on offense than the actual record. And it's completely understandable.

The mass confusion, the seemingly endless luck, in a world of beauty pageants that the BCS has become, we're the ugly dumb girl in the corner curling our hair around our fingers.

I guess every fan base has 'em. He sounds like most bammers. I thought they had a corner on the market of thinking like that. Funny thing is he thinks if he says stuff like this publicly, it makes him seem like a true hardcore "real" fan.

Benhamin5555 you did not get the memo on this board. LSU should not play to win championships (West, SEC, NC) of any kind anymore. We only play to have respectable seasons. That's the goal.
