I have to say I agree AND disagree. I'd say if we play hard and give it our all and we go 10-2 and miss the NC, then I'd be satisfied. But if we play like we are this season and have been for a couple of seasons now, it's not a good brand of football and it feels mediocre at best and it should not continue.

Thank you ESPN, I'll just make up my own opinion if you don't mind.

This is the correct response IMO

What really bothers me is how many here dont view the LSU HC job as one of the elite in the country. Pitiful

Bullsh*t....all of the "elite" teams win 9-10 games most years and pop into the National Championship race every few years. Is Texas not "elite" anymore? Is Florida not "elite"?

I agree, why aim for championships when 10 wins is even better.

I undersstand what you are saying. It's like if we had 7-5 talent and we end up 7-5 or 8-4 but we played our asses off every game and we improved throughout the season then that can be considered successful. However, I would argue we are seeing the exact opposite right now.

I'm all for winning an NC every time out, but your comment is not very convincing. You'd rather have LSU playing like Tulane or Vanderbilt right now? I call BS on that one.

Yeah cause 10 wins and playing in the SECCG is mediocrity.

Out of the over 100 schools in the league, TWO of them play for the title. To even think that we'd be there every year is a pipe dream. To envision LSU in a BCS bowl every year could be attainable, and would be considered (by rational people) a successful season. IMO.

I wouldnt go that far but coming in 3rd in the Div with the talent we have is good enough by any means.

Add to that, the pee wee looking play of our offense and the fact players are getting worse instead of better, something has to change.

Wins can't be the only metric. We went 10-2 in 2007. Auburn went 12-0 in 2004. Who was more successful?

It's all relative homie.

People say that firing Miles will cause us to have a couple of bad seasons. So what? I'd rather go 0-12, 0-12, 14-0 than 10-2, 10-2, 10-2. If Les does not give us a good shot at the NC every year, he has to go. Period.

The other problem besides you being a moron like everyone else has already stated is...

What guarantee to do you have that the next coach could get us to the 14-0 record that you mentioned? I'd bet a pretty penny that when Hallman replaced Archer that the AD and the Board thought that he would get us to the promised land! How'd that work out?

After a couple of 0-12 seasons, how the hell would we be able to land the recruits needed to go 14-0?

Your post is just oozing with stupidity!

Exactly. If we are a legit contended for the SECW every year, win it every few, and go about .500 in the SECCG, the rest will work itself out and this will be a perennial contender and an elite program.

I agree also. Why is it that some of the morons on this board believe that there are only two potential end points:
1. you are the best
2. you are a failure

Yes, the team should always play to win all of their games, win the SECW, win the SECCGand win the NC. That would be the BEST case scenario.

But there are plenty of levels between that and failure.

For example, you ask your boss to double your pay. He says no, but he does give you a 50% raise. Would you still consider that a successful outcome of your request? Or would you say screw it and tell him to shove it since it isn't the absolute best outcome? It may not be exactly what you wanted and hoped for, but still pretty freakin good.
