There's one near me. I've eaten there a couple of times - decent burgers (somewhat greasy), but there's a few local places make much better ones.

Hopefully when I try Five Guys it won't be as horribly disappointing as my In-N-Out trip.

I'll be in Nashville next week and there's one across from our hotel - looking forward to trying this place to see what all the hub-bub is about.

This is insanity. I've eaten at Five Guys in 3 different locations that are thousands of miles apart, and I just don't get it. The burgers are OK, but the fries actually suck. They are just kind of burnt. And their cajun/creole/spicy/whatever fries are REALLY shitty. Tasted like the soaked them in rosemary or something.

In n Out, on the other hand, is sublime. I really do love it. The fries are perfect and the burgers are really good. But it's still not the best burger in the world.

I still don't understand why so many dedicated burger places use griddles and not flames. You would think half the art would be in the fire.

i actually like a griddle burger better for texture reasons. Get a better crust/contrast on a griddle.

i lived in DC for a bit and have eaten at a bunch of different Five Guys places.

Have been to In-N-Out Burger once, in Vegas.

Pretty terrible sample size for in-n-out, but this burger was pretty comparable to five guys. Five Guys fries have SUCKED 90% of the time i've had them. putting them in the brown bag is a terrible idea and it just softens the already not-that-crispy fries which just seemed to be burned or in old oil or oxized or something. And all the 'locals' out there raved about the stupid fries.

In-N-Out fries were not good and seemed like typical fast food fries to me. However I had eaten at Bouchon the night before and had if not the top fries ive ever had, pretty damn close, so maybe my taste buds were shocked.

Eggo, and the rest of you folks. If y'all haven't had a burger yet from Pimanyoli's here in BR, make sure you do at some point. They are absolutely delicious.

Five Guys has almost 700 locations compared to I and O's 200. They dominate I and O because they consistently produce better burgers and fries at a higher rate. All while cooking your meal after you order it, right there in front of you. I watched them, they don't add any seasonings to the meat. So how is it saltier than wendy's? You can get no salt on your fries, which is near impossible at Wendy's since they come frozen and preseasoned with perservatives. But if you're that worried about your salt intake, I wouldn't reccomend eating out...anywhere.

i dont think the salt or lack-of is the problem with their fries..its more the fact they SUCK.

I love them both but I'm not a burger Nazi who can't be pleased. In n out is a fast food place i don't expect a gourmet burger from a drive thru. But it's the best fast food burger in all the land. Animal style is the way to go. Same on the fries.

5 guys is really good too. Ive only been to one but I liked it alot. I personally like Louies better but it's still good. I don't get why some people act like its terrible.

matter of taste.

i'm 0 for 3 at 5 Guys.

batting 100% at In N Out. It just tastes much fresher. Also, i enjoy the old traditional style burgers that In N Out serves. Also, they cook your fries to temp...fries well done (crispy), animal style is delicious and i don't even like fries in general.

i gave 5 guys 5 tries

and yep i'm 0 for 5. and let me point out..i WANTED to like this place. i saw all the accolades and they opened 2 locs here in nashville in really fancy areas (one by Ruth's Chris next to Vandy and one in a brand new multi-million dollar remodeled center at Green Hills)

however..bleh. not good. i think 5 tries is plenty to give them an opportunity to shine.

same here b/c i love burgers.

I hit the one in Carson, CA a few times and it just wasn't that good. Burger was ok, but fries were awful the first 2 times. Skipped the fries the 3rd time.
