With deer season around the corner what is the go to caliber of choice among TD deer hunters? I have been using a .270 for the last 15 yrs with good results. I shoot 130 grain winchester ballistic silvertips zeroed at 200yds.

My browning A-Bolt stainless stalker has the B.O.S.S. system that significantly lowers recoil but they will hear your shot in the next parish

270 is an all time favorite, perfect combo of accuracy and power.

I bought one of these chambered in .308 and never shot the damn thing. I put a 4x12x56 scope on it as well. Scope is almost as long as the barrel with the sun shade. Great long range cartridge if you know how to compensate for the drop.

Good advice... See Sako

But due to military surluss ammo, I like the .308 also!

I think 243 is the perfect round for white tail deer. other animails i dont know. I say 243 because i hunt for maximum meat not trophies. I only want to kill 2 a year anyway. I know it sounds silly but but killing as many a year as you can is silly to me unless you have some sort of confirmed over population problem.

I use .308 not small and not overkill.

I love the shite out of my .280 Remington. It usually drops them in their tracks, but if you have to trail them a little ways there will be more blood than with a .270. Can't remember off the top of my head what grain core-lokt I've been using, but I do not use the ballistic tips.
