Id never heard of it either. But as soon as i saw his dad come on the screen and speak, before they said what happened, i said to myself, "that guy's either a flaming homo or a child molester."

I was right, probably about both.

People living/working in the quarter have always said that Ricky was bisexual fwiw.

I was pretty confused throughout the whole film. I didn't understand the direction the filmmakers were trying to take the film. Nor did I understand Ricky's decisions in life. Was it the pot that made him walk away? Was he addicted to pot? Why didn't he say what drug he failed at the end even though the whole fricking point of the documentary was 'to be honest.' Did his father do something to him? After all of this, why does Ditka still say that he probably would have made the same trade if given the choice? I could go on. I'm not sure what to think. I'm glad I got to see footage of Ricky, but it didn't help me understand him at all.

eta: and sfp, what did you mean when you say his body changed alot?

Another 30 for 30 that would have been better suited for a segment on E60 or Real Sports. Not enough substance to sustain an hour documentary.

I've loved most of them though, but the last two have been pretty weak.

he came into the NFL at like 250+

when he was going off in miami, he was 215-220

when he came back from his 1 year off he was like 190

now he's back to 240 or something i think

It was a very "Austiny" film. This guy isn't from Austin but it had that bad film roll/digital camcorder footage coupled with talking about weed. I think Austin, Texas had a of an impact of Ricky's choices. Not to mention, social anxiety is a odd and sometimes debilitating condition. He just responded to it the wrong way. I'm glad he's gotten his act together.

Disclaimer: I'm kind of drunk.

This doc gave me a whole new perspective on Ricky. All this time, I thought he was just a dead beat, but this guy turns out to be one of the deepest, philosophical football players of all time. I often found myself during the documentary thinking "I wish I had the balls to drop my job right now and go befriend Ricky and hang". That's how cool of a person he is.

I would have loved to see those parts too, but they decided to focus 45 minutes on his decision to walk away and his trouble trying to get back into the league. While that part was important to his story, I wish it would have been a little more about his greatness as a football player. They probably could have done 15 minutes on this part and the same story would have came across. Then they could have put 30 more minutes into the parts about his time in Austin, NOLA and Miami.

I guess that is why I didn't like it that much. Don't get me wrong, it was at least watch-able to me and I have love this series, but I thought this was one of the weaker ones.

I think they should have focused more on Ricky taking down the No Limit Sports empire... (make em say UHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH)

I did always hear that he was given the choice of a guaranteed $$$ contract or an incentive laden contract and RICKY wanted the incentive contract.. his sister confirmed he wanted the incentive contract in 30for30

Great Documentary...I too would have loved to have seen another hour of background like talks of his high school athletic career/persona and what he was like in HS as compared to college as compared to pros.

I know a few people who were at UT when Ricky was a student, one person who actually lived beside him for a while. This guy told me Ricky enjoyed weed and white women a lot.

Another guy I know in a senior level business class had interesting Ricky experience...the professor had each of the 50 or so people in the class stand up and tell everyone their favorite part of their UT experience...like 10 people said Ricky Williams. It is fitting that Ricky went to UT over any other school. Did Austin make Ricky weird or was he weird before Austin?

I went to school with Ricky last year at Nova Southeastern in Ft. Lauderdale. I sat right next to him in a night English class, and he is one of the coolest people you will ever meet. He told me his life basically consists of smoking and banging his wife, and he wants to become a doctor (no joke).
