What's the word on these guys?
I read a review on them in Country Roads, and it sounded pretty nice. Anyone here have any experiences with their food, and/or market?

My favorite shrimp poboy in BR. Well, except for Off the Hook. Never had a bad experience at Tommy's.

It's a nice place. Been there twice and enjoyed it both times. Shrimp poboy was overstuffed and they used New Orleans french bread.

I'm gonna have to give it a try. What caught my eye in the review I read was the stuffed flounder and drum, and the fact that it said they are originally from NOLA, and sold wholesale to Tonys. Three generations in the biz. Pretty cool.

Fried softshell crabs I ate there were some of the biggest i have ever seen

Went Saturday night and had 3 lbs. of boiled shrimp. The shrimp were huge and seasoned perfectly. The staff was super friendly and always checking on us. This was my first time there and will defintely not be my last!

im a big fan. go fairly often.
agree with Fury..... Off the Hook and Tommys have BRs best seafood poboys. I met a buddy over there last week.....had blackened gator poboy with pepperjack....was very good.

Lot's of lemon in their crawfish. Every time I got them last year they were luke warm. They say that this year will be better.

I have had poboys at Off the Hook and Tommy's. IMO the fried shrimp, catfish & oyster poboys at Dempsey's are better than those 2 places.

I've been there a few times too for lunch. Always get the shrimp po-boy. Excellent and good value. Loaded with fresh fried shrimp.

Tommy's son posts here occasionally. Cassen or something like that.

Got to work this morning, and a buddy of mine went there yesterday after work and picked up a flounder he had deboned and stuffed with crab meat. Said it was freaking awesome, as was the rest of the selections at Tommys. This guy I'm talking about is a pretty serious seafood guy as he probably does seafood no less than once or twice a week if not more, so I trust him about what he said was a phenomenal selection. I can't wait to try them myself.

Yep, you're absolutely correct here.
I appreciate the fact that Tommy's loads up the french bread with tons of shrimp, but I don't like small, baby shrimp (not deveined) for my poboy.

When I ate at Tommy's the shrimp were bigger than Dempsey's. They were around a 36/40 peeled count. Definitely not on the small side.
And I don't remember Dempsey's being deveined either. Don't get me wrong Dempsey's was good, just didn't think it was as good as Tommy's. In my opinion at least. But you know what they say about opinions.

I normally get the stuffed scrimps at Dempsey's ... one of their best dishes ...
but I have had the bigger, deveined shrimp at Dempsey's on a poboy as well ... and I don't think I asked for it either.
