fail
But his offense in K.C. during the 2008 stretch run was among the league's most productive despite having current Dolphins third-stringer Tyler Thigpen at quarterback and Mark Bradley at No. 2 receiver. Gailey could provide a quick fix for Buffalo's woeful offense, if nothing else.

I don't understand hiring these retreads that have had 78 jobs with no real success to speak of.

gailey had success at gt n with the chiefs

They don't want to win if they hire him.

He had success with the cowboys

Chan is a waste of skin in coaching. Failed everywhere he has been -- Dallas, GT, KC, Miami----- I don't see anything winning about this guy.

The football coaching scene is fast becoming the most incestuous profession - the unfortunate thing is that it is not as though these retreads are any better than the one they are replacing.

Why not give someone else a chance besides these damn retreads. Gailey as the head coach, holy shite good luck with that Buffalo. But hell Norv Turner has done a decent job, and Wade Phillips has done okay, I would not hired any of these three to run an NFL team, but what the hell do I know.

The only hire that would be worse would be Scott Norwood.
To quote someone on another board:
"Its like they went to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, scanned the menu, and then ordered the grilled cheese."

I don't know if I would call 0-6 against your rival and never a top 25 finish "success". Haley took the playcalling duties away from him in the preseason in KC.

That guy is a shite coach.

Well, it is not like he is the Bills' first option. It may have something to do with who they can get.

Just watched the presser. Nix was funny. He did not like all the pics being taken. Chan was a straight out Man's man. Got 2 real men. Let's see what they can do. Don't think there will be any fluff with these guys. Gonna be interesting. Can't wait to see who he surrounds himself with. Sounds like Buddy will have some imput. Might get some ole La/Al coaches. Bet they will not be too young. It was amusing to hear the Southern...country drawl up in NY. Ha!

To make matters worse, Marty Schottenheimer apparently wanted the Buffalo Bills job badly.
What an epic fail by the Bills.

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Contrary to the diplomatic comments he made on his radio show, Marty Schottenheimer actually did want the Buffalo Bills head-coaching job.
Badly.
Bills owner Ralph Wilson, however, wasn't interested, sources close to Schottenheimer informed me Tuesday after the club introduced Chan Gailey as their man.
Schottenheimer had a strong desire to return to coaching after three years away from the sidelines and had an ally in former Bills general manager Buddy Nix. They became close while working together with the San Diego Chargers.
Schottenheimer played linebacker four seasons with the Bills, winning an AFL title with them in 1965.
But the Bills couldn't consider Schottenheimer a candidate because Wilson wasn't comfortable with him, the sources said.
What an epic fail by the Bills.

He failed in Dallas and Miami as OC by not winning enough games -- the same reason he got fired at Georgia Tech as HC. He makes Les appear to be Dale Carnagie is speech making.
