You can easily make it to Tuscaloosa from Baton Rouge in a little under 5 hours. I have made the drive three times in the past 3 months. Speed traps start outside of Hattiesburg, outside of Laurel and Meridien has cops before the city, in the city and after the city. The speed drops from 70 to 60 and back to 70 but DO NOT speed up over 70 until you are at least 5 miles outside of Meridian. Peoppe get stopped outside of Meridian going 4 miles onver the speed limit.

ALSO, If you are running low on gas make sure you stop in Meridian because there are limited gas stations rigth off the HWY between Meridian and Tuscaloosa.

That's true. Limited exits between Meridian and Tuscaloosa where you'll find multiple stations except for Livingston, AL (exit 17).

The entire state of Mississippi is a speed trap. You can pretty much bet on seeing a cop or twom in Laurel. Meridian has never been a problem for me but I keep it around 5 over through town. The other spot where I have noticed cops as of this season is near the Mississippi Alabama state line near the weigh station. When you get to Alabama you normally only have to worry about troopers until you get to Tuscaloosa. So what you can do is dial *47 and ask if there are any cops around because you just saw a straned motorist ALMOST get hit at make up mile marker behind you. This will tell you whether or not any troopers are in the area.

Wait on the BQBQ until you hit TTown and grab a slab of ribs at dreamland or hit Cypress Inn (my favorite resturant in TTown)

I said it first...Leatha's is not good bbq.

If you think it's good, then you probably like Red Lobster for seafood.

That reminds me. Still have to pay my ticket in Alabama for the drive back from Athens.

And for the record, no construction workers were present on that Sunday.

i make this drive to go to/from Batonr Rouge from my home in Tennessee all of the time....3 big speed traps

1. meridian
2. laurel
3. anywhere in pearl county, mississippi.

other than that you should be ok. also, theres little to no civilization on the way so make sure you fuel up when you see one because there are places where you drive for 3o mins without a place to stop...good ole mississippi
